As we slowly begin to enter the final weeks of December and the new year literally just around the corner for many people, December is often a month for many to look past on the last year either good or bad memories. Sometimes throughout this time and depending on the individual, somewhere along the way there might be talks about expanding and wanting to try new things. From setting new goals for yourself, exploring new hobbies, finding a new style or trying to work on your current style. Sometimes this also includes the discover of new music and wanting to start the new year fresh and with new artists/music!
For me personally I often enjoy the foundations about learning of new genres and even learning about how the production side of things works from channels focused on sharing the music process. Sometimes even if I don’t have an article in mind or feel passion to write something, music is something I’m always learning about and love expanding my listening to, although there is always those artists I fall back on and enjoy listening to their music the most, I always want to try to listen to an artist at least once if I can help it.
From looking into new music and artists with intention and a music genre in mind, sometimes you find the best songs and artists you connect with when you’re not even thinking about it. This personally for me is a lot of how I find new music. Let’s take a brief dive into some artists you should know about going into the next year, and some you should check out for the first time!.
1. T:EV.
T:EV is a 3 member South Korean Boy Group underneath StarTree Entertainment, the group debuted with three members Yuseong, Bonggeun and Taeyeong who were all former members of the group AQA. They debuted the most recently on December 5th 2024 with their first single, ‘The Story of Our Summer Day’. I actually really like the song and hope more people will check it out, they only have one video currently but is worth a listen.
2. L5ST.
L5ST is a group created by several members, some having history of being in former/disbanded groups such as: DoJun (XENEX and MEGAMAX), YoonSang (AWEEK, ASTIN and IB147), Chanwook (WEUS and DayChild, BlackLevel), Kyul (IB147) and Beomsoo (IB147). The group currently has 3.13K subscribers on Youtube and is worth checking out.
3. NCHIVE.
For those interested in more hip/ a more ‘intense’ type of concept, NCHIVE is a 6 member boy group that debuted on April 9th 2024 with their first single album ‘DRIVE’. The group currently consists of: HA.L, E.AN, Kangsan, Yuchan, Juyoung and N as Minjun would leave the group to focus on his recovery. With 30.9K subscribers on Youtube and just about 600 on YouTube Music, NCHIVE have a lot of talent and growth to offer new fans, from funny bits in their livestreams and vlogs, there is something for everyone. I personally recommend the song ‘Fireworks’.
4. Jimmy Brown. (Lee Jiwon).
One of my newest and favourite discoveries is Lee Jiwon, who debuted underneath the name Jimmy Brown independently in 2017. I recommend his other songs ‘Lullaby’, and ‘Show Me’. He currently is sitting just underneath 50K subscribers on Youtube and brings a lot of comfort to his fans through his relatable and cozy music.
5. Kenessi.
One of the latest artists I would come through, through different searching since joining Youtube music is Kenessi (some may also know him as NCT Dream’s Jaemin has recommended his music in a past vlive). He is known for his SoundCloud and singles containing the R&B/Soul, Indie and pop genres. A lot isn’t known about him and he has stated in the past that he wishes people would enjoy his music as it is without wanting to ‘rely on his visuals’/etc. He is an artist you should check out, he recently hit 1K subscribers on Youtube and should be considered for your next cozy or R&B playlist!.
#6. Xydo. (7.89K Subscribers).
