Kpopmap Fan Interview is back with a special edition! We have answers from fans of the groovy artist VIXX’s Ravi who has just come back with “LOVE&FIGHT”. Ravi has been long recognized for his talents ever since his debut in the popular boy group VIXX and for his solo activities and being the CEO of GROOVL1N as well. Ravi’s fans have a lot to say about him. If you are not a Starlight yet, this will be the must-have guide to joining the fandom. If you are already part of the fandom, this is the opportunity to get closer to other Starlight.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

Well…. I just randomly saw a lot of variety shows on that day, and I found “2 Days & 1 Night” season 4. I see the casts and I was just curious of all so I watched it. In the Episode 1, I just feel like he is so funny and unique. Like I’ve never seen someone like him in my life. After that, I searched a lot about him, I listen to his songs and I love them! Rania When I started liking Ravi, and I know Ravi after I saw the show “2 Days & 1 Night”, and then I stalk him. I found something special about Ravi. finally, I thought about getting into a fandom @ravindonesia and meeting new friends who also like Ravi and to share information about Ravi. Putriwiby At first, I watched “2 Days & 1 Night” reality show on October 2021, a little bit late it is.
Ravi suddenly caught my attention, got a special space in my mind and my heart by watching him on that show. I’m looking for everything about him on social media and the more I look about him, the more he got my heart. I’m a newbie by the way in this fandom things. Devina It was when I watched the first episode of “2 Days & 1 Night”, when he appeared on the camera I was like “OH WOW! HE LOOKS SO HANDSOME! Who’s this guy?” Then I searched his name on the internet and looked on everything that’s related to him, that’s how. So, I entered the fandom around last year, but recently I’m really getting crazier about him! Axel Christine At first, I like VIXX since the ‘Fantasy era’. That time my bias is Ken. but I’m still love all the member equally. I just getting overwhelmed by Ken’s voices. So I put more interest in him. As the time goes by I got influenced by my friend. And since Ravi release a mixtape called ‘R.EBIRTH’, my interest in his colour of music and his personality is growing bigger and bigger until now. Ima

I was looking for some friends to talk to and share interest about Ravi. I joined the fandom last year. Ana I started following the fandom since early 2021, when I saw one of my friend’s posts on Instagram because I love Ravi so much and I want to know about Ravi. Yulia In December 2019, I met Ravi in “2 Days & 1 Night” and fell in love at first sight. Anisa I actually know RAVI first during his VIXX’s Rapper era with his iconic “Yeah, I wanna win this race VIXX haha Value in Excelsis, aoooowww” hehehe Kira I entered the fandom at first, I really liked Ravi, then I just found fandom on Instagram and finally joined.Bianca

 

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist?

He writes songs that really different from others which makes him more unique. His personality, hardworking person and funny! I feel like he’s such a nice guy that really cares for others, especially for his fans. For me, his fanservice is really great! He always interacts with us, whether he replies to our comments, likes, and even he wears the stuff that we send to him. I just feel grateful and feel like really close to him, even only as a fan. Rania Because Ravi is a proud idol, He is a singer, rapper, music label CEO, songwriter, hard worker, caring with all fans, and of course, he is a handsome man 😅😍, and then he is the best CEO. I don’t know what else to write, because loving Ravi takes billions of papers to write it down. and I can’t. Putriwiby I fall in love with his personality, HIS FACE!!, his style, his songs, etc. He’s being cute and badass at the same time LOL. Devina First, when I saw him on TV, it was just he’s very handsome! As I watch the show I feel like somehow they really show their real character when they play games or eat, etc. Even I watch him just from the TV, I love his personality. When I look more of him, I hear more about him and see how people around him value and respect him, I think he’s a really good and kind person. And of course! He’s a really hardworking person. Ravi is a really good dancer and singer. In conclusion, I love him because I can see he’s one of a kind, great, hardworking, funny, wise, multi-talented and very good looking man. Axel Christine His diversity colour of music, his personality, his kindness, his hardworking style, the way he solves a lot of kind of problems about himself or others, the way he leads his people or his company, all the things actually. There are so many reasons, but most of all it is his smile. His voice and his talent in music. His dancing skill is mind blowing, he is very cool when he is dancing. He is able to compose and write so many amazing songs. His personality is lovely, he is smart, funny, sweet and caring. I love everything about him. Ana He’s very cool and funny at the same time, I love his heavy voice and sexy too, I love way he’s laugh so cute omg! He’s a hard worker and also has many friends, a genius musician, kind and warm person. Yulia Ravi is a dedicated worker who is also witty and has 1001 incredible skills. Anisa I love Ravi for so long because his personality actually makes me also see the day as bright but not hot, it’s warm. Also, the songs he wrote… It touches my heart so much. I always love all his releases. Kira I like Ravi not what I planned, I just like him because he is handsome, funny, hardworking, unique, creative and a talented singer and songwriter. Bianca

 

 

Which song by them caught your attention at first and why?

I would say ‘Tuxedo’, this song really catchy for me and I think I never heard that kind of melody before. I play that song for like 3 weeks in a row at that time 😀 he’s also very handsome at his MV. Rania

 

‘Paradise’ song with Ha SungWoon. The song makes me addicted to 1 week listening to the song 😂😍, he also looks very elegant and cool. And then ‘Bum’ song Ravi’s dance and rap really made me fall in love. Putriwiby

 

Ravi – Cardigan (Ft. Wonstein). That song is so ear-catching, and after watching the MV, it really great in all aspects. Ravi’s voice, the colors, the dances, the melody, the harmony, Wonstein’s voice too of course.Devina

 

‘ROCKSTAR’! Because it has a really good melody and it can be easily remembered. Once I hear the song I just wanna move my body! And it plays automatically in my head! Axel Christine

 

The really first song attached to me is ‘Lean On Me’ on ‘R.EBIRTH’ Mixtape. The melody is really good. I repeated it like multiple time while listening to it at first. Ima

 

‘Rockstar’ because the song really catches my attention. The melody, the lyrics, and the music video is fantastic. Ana ‘Lean on me’. Yulia ‘Rockstar’. Because it’s frequently used in two-power-one-night events AnisaFor Ravi as soloist of course it is ‘NIRVANA’ with Jamie. The MV is so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and the song really catchy. Who is able to resist “Why do you love me babee~”?. Kira The first time I was interested in the song ‘ROCKSTAR’ because the song is very different from K-Pop songs in general. This song has a blend of various genres of music that unite into beautiful music.Bianca

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

Omg it’s hard but i will recommend ‘Tuxedo’, ‘Cardigan’, ‘I Don’t Deny’, ‘1,2,3’, and ‘Versa’. Rania You must you should listen to Ravi’s songs with the title ‘Paradise’, ‘Bum’, ‘What About You’. Ravi’s new album ‘WINNER’, ‘Virus’, ‘Let Me Down’, etc. all his songs are so awesome. 대박 😍. Putriwiby – RAVI – ‘Cardigan’ (Ft. Wonstein)

– RAVI – ‘WINNER’ (Ft. Ash Island) Devina A title track that I recommend is “WINNER”. B-side track that I recommend is “WHAT’S MY PROBLEM”. These two songs just out recently on his new album. All of his songs are really good to hear, so we should listen to all of them! Axel Christine I actually wanna recommend all the songs he has. Cause I can’t choose only one honestly. But if I have to, I may recommend some songs, such as :

 

a. As a title song, they may listen to ‘Still Nirvana’ -feat. Haon and Xydo (Prod. PUFF) from Ravi’s 4th Mixtape “Nirvana II”. And for the B-side track maybe ‘U-niverse’ – feat. Rick Bridges from Ravi’s 2nd Mini Album “R.OOKBOOK”. His flow and diction are always good, and the featuring artist also fire.

 

b. For the newest album, Ravi’s 2nd LP “LOVE&FIGHT”, as a title song I recommend ‘WINNER’- feat. Ash Island and for the B-side track is ‘Warrior’. But I highly recommend listening to track number 1 to 11 in this album. Cause to be honest, all the song is fire.

 

c. Also, this one is not the title track nor B-side track, but the project song he did with tvN-D and the ministry of Gender Equality and Family. The title is ‘Pause’. You have to watch the music video and read the lyrics. He write and composed this himself and he deliver a meaningful message through the whole song. I personally highly recommend this song. You should listen his new song called ‘WINNER’. In this song Ravi collaborated with Ash Island. The song I feel Ravi really put all his love and efforts to make this album. B-side track, try listen to ‘Paradise’ by Ravi and Ha SungWoon. The song is easy listening and can lift up your mood.

 

One more song that I would like to recommend is ‘Leaf’ – Ravi feat 10cm, this song will make you calm and soothes you well. Ana ‘Paradise’ for title track and drowning in the rain for a B-side track Yulia From the album “LOVE&FIGHT”, there is a b side tune called ‘Leaf’ and ‘Virus’. Anisa I always recommend ‘WHERE AM I’ to new fans, the lyrics are so good and actually melancholy? It feels nostalgic to me. Also ‘U-Niverse’!! This song is reaaaallyyy good! The type of love song where you love someone calmly yet so full. Kira I highly recommend ‘TUXEDO’ and ‘ROCKSTAR’ SONG for new fans, because this song is very interesting, unique, and pleasant to hear and has a good music video. Bianca

Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share?

“You can live longer if you stay away from meat + flour based products, but then there’s no reason to live long anyways” – Ravi

 

I just find it funny, well everytime he said “hwaiting” or “be happy”, etc, I always feel happy, plus his laugh is very addicting hehe. Rania “세상은 우리를 겁먹게 만들지만, 망설임 없이 무모하게 맞서고 싶다. 사랑하는 모든 존재에 온 마음을 다할것이며. 맞서야 하는 모든 것 앞에 날을 세워 부딪힐 것이다. 이제서야 나를 좀 일 것 같다” translated as: “The world scares us, but we want to face it recklessly without hesitation. I will give my whole heart to all the beings I love. I will stand up and bump into everything I have to face. I think it’s only now.” I think that he is someone who repays those who hurt him with extraordinary works and achievements. Putriwiby “If you hate me, hate me alone. Don’t be out there lying about me. Trying to recruit people to hate me with you”. Devina “When things get tough, there are people who think best and worst case scenarios, but what I’m sure of is that you should pursue whatever makes your heart beats. Whatever motivates you and makes you move is what you should be doing. No matter what the outcome is, the process or what you get as an end results, I’m sure will make you happy”.

What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life?

I know he’s a hardworking person and it influences me to always do the best in everything that I do. He also motivates me to learn Korean and I hope I can get my master’s degree in Korea, wish me luck! Rania Yes, it’s true, he gives me happiness, keeps me excited to fight for life and pursue my dreams, I’m also learning Korean. Putriwiby He’s my mood booster actually, he made my day so happy. And make me want to learn Korean. Devina Ravi has a big impact in my life. I can be very content just to watch him dance or when I listen to his songs. So, whenever I feel a bit down, I just need to listen to his songs to hear his voice. And of course, I will learn Korean ASAP so that I can send messages or post comments on Ravi’s Instagram in Korean. Hahaha! Axel Christine He brings me constant happiness and positive energy. Always pushes me to be a better person and be kind to everyone, being more brave and wise on every problem. If I make a mistake, I should apologize first and fix the thing needed. Put the interest of the team ahead of my self. All the good things from him bring the positivity to my self too. Ima

Makes me want to do anything I can do and be happy to myself, my friends and family. Also makes me want to learn about Korean more and more. Elli He is my happy pills and serotonin boost. I feel happy by watching him or listen to his music. He put a smile on my face. Last but not least, I took Korea language class because of him. I want to understand what he is saying without subtitles and one day I hope I can meet him and be able to speak to him. Ana Make me happy and make me can meet a lot of new friends. I want to study Korean too … his songs make me always energetic and made my day. Yulia It inspires me to do my assignment as soon as possible. Anisa If it’s about Ravi personally… It is not an exaggeration but Ravi helped my parents not lose their daughter. I was almost in depression and bad thought of leaving the world popped up lot of times. The reason why I love Ravi’s ‘Where Am I’ so much is because when the song was released, I learned about the lyrics and then I realized “I… probably worth something to someone” and started to calm myself more and try to live my life better. Up until now, years passed, and it is still being one of my comfort songs. Kira Ravi gives me a strong motivation to always work hard and make the best use of time, don’t forget to add enthusiasm to learning Korean.Bianca

 

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

I never thought about this before….I think when I smiled and laughed because of him, that’s my favorite side. Because I know that I’m really happy :). Rania Always support him for all his works. Putriwiby Well, honestly this is my first time fangirling like this! My favourite part is whenever I watch him or listen to his songs, I feel I got closer to him and it really makes me happy. I also joined Ravi’s fanbase from Indonesia, it’s nice to have friends that support and cheer the same person, Ravi. Axel Christine Instead of fangirling, it is more like admiring and inspiring. I wanna experience all the good and nice things he did. Ima

Makes me to buy things more carefull and save money to buy album and merchandise ^_^ Elli I learn new things, such as learn korea language,l and learn how to buy album. I met new people in fangirling which is good to add my friendship. And It feels like I have a new hobby, I am excited to collect Ravi merch especially his photo card. Ana Make me feel still forever young :D. Yulia It inspires me to do my assignment as soon as possible. Anisa I’m able to meet a lot of new friends that actually more like family to me! We can share our problems and happiness all under the flag of Starlight family. Kira My favorite part of being fangirling is being able to create one’s own happiness just by hearing and seeing biases and making lots of new friends. Bianca

 

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

I know he has 2 labels now, and managing those artists it’s not easy, I heard that some of other fans saying that Ravi didn’t take care of his artist. It was wrong, because as a person he really cares for others especially to people that really close to him. I saw that he always try to make a time for his artist either to see promotional event or mv making. So please, stop saying that he does not care for his artist, he’s trying his best. Rania Yes, there are some I found hate comments. but I think they are wrong, because everything Ravi does is totality, and they work hard for it. Putriwiby As Ravi said, “There are people who think best and worst case scenarios”. I believe people with the worst scenarios do exist, but we don’t need to take it personally because it’s their opinion, not us. People can say whatever they want to say, but we can choose whether we want to listen to them. What I keep in my mind is, the people who love Ravi know better. RAVI IS THE BEST! Axel Christine There are a lot to be honest. People who don’t know him personally tend to throw hate to him without mercy. He is a very considerate and passionate person. He also has many soft side like his manner, politeness, he knows how to put himself and he is super clingy to the people he loves. He looks bold and strong but inside he also super sensitive and sometimes thinks way too hard. When he does something seriously, he puts 200% effort and high expectation. But sometimes the result does not go well as the expectation. And people who originally hate him take the chance to bring him down. But he knows how to control them. He protected his fans first instead of himself. And we as fans, we really know that we don’t really put attention to the quantity but we only care about the quality of the songs that he gave to us until now. He only produces a masterpiece and we love it so much. Ima

So far I don’t find any negative rumour or opinion about Ravi. Elli Ravi works really hard for his label, Groovl1n and The L1ve. I hope people understand and stop give hateful words to him.
