Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Filipino MOODZ Talks About Her Favorite Artist WOODZ & The Reasons Why She Loves Him

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Minah is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the Philippines and is a fan of WOODZ. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi I’m Minah, a MOODZ from the Philippines.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

It was 2014. As if it’s a sign that this person will hold a special place in my heart starting from now until the future, as UNIQ’s debut song ‘Falling In Love’ played, SeungYoun (aka WOODZ) caught my eyes, probably my heart too because of the radiance he emits, his energy, his cute, bubbly and happy go lucky aura.
 
Years later, in 2019, our paths crossed again as I genuinely root for WOODZ during his journey in “Produce X 101” until he debuted as the main vocal/lead rapper in group X1.
 
Last 2020, WOODZ announced his fandom name “MOODZ”. And now I’m officially a MOODZ.

 

 

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist?

There’s actually a lot of reasons why I love WOODZ. 🙂 First of all, his genuine personality. WOODZ is well known as someone who is very open, comforting and sincere. On top of that, he is also a social butterfly who is friends with a lot of idols and other celebrities. He also has a very mature way of thinking which is so inspiring.
Most of all, he has a very cute personality that is oh so entertaining. He’s definitely such a funny guy.
On another note, I also want to recommend everyone to watch and check his Youtube segment titled: “조쌤의 고민상담소” (Teacher Cho Counseling Center). In this show, he was talking with MOODZ and their concerns in life. It was such a wonderful and touching interaction with WOODZ and MOODZ. Another reason why I love him is his dedication and pure love for his craft and music. He is so passionate about his work that even on his day off he still works on it.

The most admirable thing about him is that he is also the Producer of all his songs! Not only that, but all his songs are outstanding too!
If everyone wants to witness this Producer side of him, I highly recommend everyone to watch his “HOW: How Ordinary, We’re” and “Baverse Documentaries”. This documentary focuses and shows his passion and artistry while he is working on his music and albums. People actually fell harder with WOODZ and his music after watching the said documentaries. WOODZ is also loved by many because of how talented he is. His talent ranges from singing, dancing, rapping, writing, and composing music excellently. He is also a very fit and athletic person. He is indeed the best representation of a well rounded idol of this generation.

 

Which song by them caught your attention at first and why?

WOODZ has a lot of songs under his name and out of those beautifully made masterpieces, the song that caught my attention was his Solo Debut Song titled ‘Baby Ride’ which was released in 2016. This song was his very first release single track when he was still promoting under the name of ‘Luizy’. It is a bright and summer-ish rnb track. Please check it out, too! 🙂

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

Hmm. To be honest all WOODZ title tracks are recommendable. 🙂 His music caters to different genres. But if i were to pick, I’ll choose and recommend ‘BUMP BUMP’ & ‘FEEL LIKE’ which were released in November 2020 & March 2021, respectively. ‘BUMP BUMP’ is such a good song with a bright and pop rock-ish genre while ‘FEEL LIKE’ has a top notch instrumental and oh the guitar riffs are so addictive! WOODZ vocals in the said songs are so beautifully executed too. His falsetto is so soothing and his vocal range is so impressive!
For the b-side track, I recommend ‘TRIGGER from his 2nd Mini Album “WOOPS” and ‘BUCK’ from his 1st Mini Album “EQUAL”. Both ‘TRIGGER’ & ‘BUCK’ shows WOODZ powerful rap line and flow.

WOODZ has a lot of fun and exciting contents both in his V Live & YouTube.
From his V Live channel my favorites are the ones when he shares the best and happy moments with us (MOODZ). It’s when he got his very first WIN and his Birthday V Live.
He also has a lot of song and dance covers on his YouTube Channel. He covered ‘My House’ by 2PM, ’11:11′ by TaeYeon, ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ by Stevie Wonder, ‘In my blood’ by Shawn Mendes, ‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weeknd and a lot more. I also recommend you to watch his Live Clips and stages! And you’ll be amazed how great a performer he is. Truly an all rounder 🧡💙

This is one of my favorite lyrics from ‘Thanks To’ (by WOODZ). It’s actually a song emanating from the love he receives from MOODZ. It has a happy and touching meaning. It is a song about love and gratefulness. WOODZ himself wrote the lyrics to dedicate to his fans (MOODZ). 🧡💙

 

Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share?

WOODZ is a person who thinks deeply and is a sincere person. He shares a lot of comforting words and wisdom to his fans. And my favorite is when he encourages MOODZ and tells us that he believes and trusts us and that we can do it! And oh, he never misses to remind us to take care of ourselves and to always be healthy.

What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life?

Like I said, WOODZ is an inspiring person and will encourage us not to give up. His passion and dedication is also admirable. He brings us all the happiness, motivation, comfort and encouragement. 🧡💙

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favorite side of fangirling is sharing WOODZ artistry and music to everyone, through it I create new friendships, adventures, exhilarating memories and bonds that will always be a part of my wondrous youth.

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)?

At first impression, many would think that WOODZ is an intimidating and serious person because of his image and sharp visuals but once you get to know him, you’ll eventually see that he is the opposite because of his soft, cute and happy nature.
