After the success of Mnet’s “Queendom” and “Queendom 2”, most K-Pop fans started suggesting some more girl groups, hoping for a “Road to Queendom”, which would be the female equivalent of “Road to Kingdom”, where they had PENTAGON, ONF, Golden Child, THE BOYZ, ONEUS, VERIVERY, and TO1 (former TOO).
Down below are the 8 rookie girl groups that I think would be amazing in the show, (if it does come, of course)…
1. ARTBEAT
Despite newly debuting on the 16th of November 2022, with title song ‘MAGIC’, their talents tell us a different story.
Since they’re mostly known for their YouTube channel and dance covers, I think it’s pretty clear that they’ll be the next Queens of Dance.
Plus, their “M Countdown” performance of ‘Aphrodite’ got over 250k views, which is a quarter of 1M views and pretty impressive too. With lovely visuals and skills to bring to the table, my guess is that ARTBEAT will be on our minds for a while…
2. Billlie
Billlie is also another girl group that would be on “Road To Queendom’s” radar, as we’ve already got 2 members that appeared on a few survival shows already: Sheon on MNET’s “Girls Planet 999” and Moon SuA on JTBC’s “The Second World”.
Ever since Japanese member Tsuki‘s fancam of “Gingamingayo” on “SIMPLY KPOP” went viral due to her amazing facial expressions, I knew that Billlie would soon grow in popularity.
3. TRI.BE
TRI.BE are a 7-member girl group under TR Entertainment who have a duality better than any other, from being cute youngsters one second…
…to sinister, dark witches the next.
They even take the extra step to choreograph their own choreography, such as ‘LOBO’…
…and even add some Spanish (like ‘LORO’) to some of their discography. Well, they don’t use ‘VIDA LOCA’ in their group introduction for nothing.
Literally, stanning TRI.BE is almost parallel to going around the world: exploring different flavours and tastes, whilst having a great time.
4. SECRET NUMBER
They used be a bit nugu, but after winning special stages at “ROAD TO M COUNTDOWN 1ST GEN”…
… and ROAD TO KCON 2ND GEN”…
… both of which were a part of MnetPlus’ online content “ROAD TO MAX”, they promoted their most acclaimed title track yet, ‘DOOMCHITA’, and get the recognition they deserved, despite not getting a 1st music win…
5. CSR
Although they’re sprout artists, fans are liking CSR’s unique school girl, and aspiring inspiration vibes so much, that they gave CSR their 1st music show win for their first comeback ‘♡TiCON’.
Yeo, I think it’s crystal that CSR are going to have great, ginormous growth in the years to come.
6. tripleS
tripleS is an upcoming 24-membered girl group under MODHAUS, where they are currently releasing members, one at a time, and allow their fans to participate and communicate with the content of the group.
So far, the members include:
YooYeon (S5) from MBC’s “My Teenage Girl”,
JiWoo (S3) from MBC’s “My Teenage Girl”,
Kotone (S11) from Mnet’s “Girls Planet 999”,
DaHyun (S10), who did an OST for “Reborn Rich”,
ChaeYeon (S4), a former member of BUSTERS,
NaKyoung (S7), BIBI’s younger sister,
SeoYeon (S1),
HyeRin (S2),
YeonJi (S12),
SooMin (S6),
YuBin (S8),
and Kaede (S9).
They’ve had a subunit release from “Acid Angel from Asia”, with the mini-album called “ACCESS” and title track ‘Generation’.
And a few weeks ago, tripleS (OT10/with members from S1 to S10) have released another mini-album, called “ASSEMBLE”, that of which includes ‘Rising’, which was chosen by their fans in a contest.
As the number of fans are growing for the girls, their concept getting many likes, and their YouTube channel getting thousands of subscribers, there’s a possibility that they could be the next big thing in K-Pop.
7. mimiirose
mimiirose is a 5-member group that includes Yoon JiA from “Girls Planet 999”, and Seo YunJu from “My Teenage Girl”.
They debuted with the title track “Rose”, which has a jungle-like beat, and is the type that gets you ready for the gym/dance class.
With loads of potential, powerful energy, and having revealed their fandom name recently, I truly believe that mimiirose will bring us bangers until the end of time.
8. ICHILLIN’
ICHILLIN’ originally made their 2021 debut with their 1st digital single ‘Got’ya’ as 7 members with SoHee, before she left the group after “Bridge of Dreams”.
During Draw(My Time)’,
KM Entertainment announced that Jeong JiYoon, former “Girls Planet 999” contestant, would be joining the group, making ICHILLIN’ a 7-member group again…
With huge energy, bright smiles, and cute skills too, I think ICHILLIN’ are going to be the embodiment of “FRESHNESS/LEMONADE” soon.
In summary, I hope that all 8 of these rookie girl groups will grow to do many great things in the future, whether it’s “Road To Queendom”, “Queendom”, or etc. So, please be sure to give them your love and support as much as you can, if possible.
