This article is part of “Artist Spotlight,” an original content idea and unbiased article series that was created to push different artists into the spotlight a little more and to give a brief overview of everything that both fans and casual listeners/supporters would want to know about the artist. It is a series that will contain different artists and genres that all fall underneath the K-Pop spectrum.

To begin this post, we will start with the rookies LUMINOUS, a group you may or may not have heard about yet. Their latest achievements, variety content, latest music releases, concerts, tour, facts about the members and social media status and things to know.

So to begin, we have to ask, “Who Is LUMINOUS?”

LUMINOUS (루미너스) is a 4 member South Korean boy group currently under SE Group ENT who first entered the K-Pop scene with a 5 track pre debut album, “VISION.” The album itself contains one solo song for each member: ‘Orbit’ (WooBin‘s solo), ‘Star’ (YoungBin‘s solo), ‘Up All Night’ (Steven‘s solo), ‘ROD (Ride Or Die)’ (SuIl‘s solo), ‘Dreaming LUMINOUS’ (a title track featuring all members, with a released MV).

It wasn’t long before the group surprises their fans by debuting on September 9, 2021 with the album “YOUTH” and the lead single, ‘RUN‘.

Not only did the MV become the first time LUMINOUS achieves 1 million views after dealing with the common K-Pop fan struggle of having views deleted, but they would also comeback in 2022 with the 5 track EP “Between Light and Darkness”. They appeared on different YouTube Channels for interviews, including ones where they did a challenge with OMEGA X for their song, ‘All Eyes Down’. You can see the members cutely doing the challenge together. For the video, the title of the track was changed to ‘All Eyes On OX’, where they did the the challenge with some of the DKB members.

During LUMINOUS and Steven’s pre-debut days, they became known for their live streams and responding to numerous fan comments both in English and Korean. The series, “VSteven”/”VTeven,” was originally available on V Live, before it was moved to the group’s official YouTube channel due to the closure of V Live and the opening of Weverse. Although the other members are often featured in his lives to recommend songs to fans, every now and then, they post livestreams separately, like lives such as “Don’t think you are alone”, SuIl’s 1 hour livestream “Emergency Meeting” or members’ three hour live stream that originally started out with talking about wifi issues, but turned into a very comforting live for fans.

Later within the same year, on May 20th, they dropped teasers for the song ‘Wish You Were Here’, before dropping their official fandom name LUMINI on June 20th. The name itself is a mixture of the star sign “Gemini” and the groups name “LUMINOUS.”
