TEEN TOP, a 14-year-old K-Pop legend group, made a comeback with the title song ‘HWEEK’ in 2023, and they held a fancon called “TEEN TOP We Gonna Rock It Drop It Top It Hey Don’t Stop It Pop It Live.” Many Angels (TEEN TOP’s fans) were looking forward to it because we can finally see their concert again after a 3-year wait. International Angels, including me, watched Day 2 of the concert through the online platform hellolive.
When the concert started, Angels swung their purple lightsticks (Angel-bong) as TEEN TOP appears in white tuxedos while the song ‘Rocking’ starts playing. Keeping up the energy, TEEN TOP sang their next songs ‘Seoul Night’ and ‘No More Perfume On You’. After that, they had a talk segment. Ricky said he missed Angels and that he felt great performing after a long time, ChangJo mentioned that the fancon title is very long and got cut out on the ticket, and that they wanted Angels to shout the fancon title correctly, so the whole venue shouted “TEEN TOP We Gonna Rock It Drop It Top It Hey Don’t Stop It Pop It Live.”
The next songs were ‘Don’t I’ and ‘Be Ma Girl’. In the next segment, each member shares a TMI (Too Much Information). ChangJo said that the day before, after the Day 1 concert, he went home, ate, and slept. Niel said he came in late that day. To introduce the next song, Niel asks Angels, “Do you like Iced Americano?” (which is abbreviated to AA, similar to their song ‘Ah-Ah’). Angels shout “Yes~,” and the song ‘Ah-Ah’ started playing. ChunJi said that as it was the last day of the fancon, so he hopes everyone would enjoy it. The next song was their latest song ‘HWEEK’, which was very fun!
A VCR was shown, and in the video, TEEN TOP is divided into 2 teams to do a cooking battle. They played games and made a simple dish, and ChunRick’s team wins.
It was then time for solo stages, which was special because they didn’t perform it on Day 1. They started with Ricky’s ‘Move’, followed by Niel’s ‘AtoZ’, ChunJi’s ‘Too Late’, and finally, ChangJo’s “OMG.”
After the solo stages, they came back to the stage wearing green-themed clothes. Other members praise Ricky for covering SHINee TaeMin sunbaenim’s song ‘Move’. They read Angels’ comments and pick the best 4 comments to receive signed albums and merchandise. At this part, I didn’t really comprehend what happened; it might be a punishment or something, but other members told Niel to do aegyo (cute pose), and he indeed looked cute, and everyone cheered.
The next song was ‘Missing You’. Before starting to sing, Niel said this song is about a bad man, and he tells Angels to find a good man instead. Angels respond with “Yes~(ok).” During the talk segment, Ricky said that usually, Niel-hyung sang a lot (of parts), but now ChangJo has a lot more parts. While it is true that ChangJo is a dancer in the group, he has taken on many singing lines, which is amazing. He gives his all in every performance, and I really appreciate that. ChunJi mentioned that his niece is watching them from the 2nd floor, so they wave and say hi. After that, ‘Angel’ and ‘Next You’ are played; these are fan songs, so everyone was touched. After a VCR, TEEN TOP members appeared in black tuxedos; they look so good that I was about to faint.
They sang ‘Missing’ & ‘I’m Sorry’. I feel so happy because I got to see them perform this song again after a long time. They shared a story from a long time ago when ChangJo and Niel were joking with each other, but it turned into a fight before performing on stage. At the end, ChangJo said sorry, and they made up again and went to the stage like nothing happened. Ricky asked Niel why he accepted his apology, and Niel said ChangJo gave an apology, so he had to receive it. They know each other’s hearts, they fight, and make up a lot, which made their friendship strong.
Then was the part that was most anticipated; they sang ‘To You’, ‘Hot Like Fire’, ‘Your Man’, ‘Swag’, ‘Oh Good’, and ‘Call Me’. It almost felt like a party; everyone jumped and cheered. I couldn’t help myself but jump in front of my screen too! Their energy was limitless; it was almost 2 hours of singing and dancing, but their stamina is so stable. I’ve been a fan of them for almost 10 years, but I was still shocked by their stage presence.
They sing ‘Crazy’ and ‘Miss Right’ as a closing and came down from the stage. But the concert didn’t stop here yet; Angels shout “Encore, encore, encore,” and after a while, TEEN TOP showed up again, singing ‘HWEEK’ while wearing TEEN TOP Live t-shirts. Not wanting the euphoria to end, they performed a never-ending encore, singing ‘Crazy’ and ‘Call Me’ once again. It was a really great show after 3 years of drought and missing them; they truly gave us such beautiful performances.
They performed with energetic moves and live vocals for 2 hours and 30 minutes, chit-chatting in every segment with the Angels. The venue was not that big, so it felt like TEEN TOP had more intimate interactions with the Angels.
I love seeing Angels because no one held their phone high; they were just vibing and enjoying their idols up close.
My reviews on hellolive are as follows: we clearly saw the concert with good audio and no lagging videos. We can also get replay videos and purchase online goods. However, translations are a bit late during the live stream, and there were no subtitles in the VCR. Additionally, the replay video also lacked subtitles.
I felt lucky to have the chance to see TEEN TOP’s concert, that even though I’m far away, I was able to watch it online. It was the best moment as an Angel, seeing them happy on stage and feeling the euphoria of TEEN TOP rocking the stage again. They will always be my forever idols. I hope I can get more opportunities to see TEEN TOP and Angels meet each other again in the future, and I also hope I can meet them too someday.
