7 ONEUS B-Side Tracks That You Should Listen To

ONEUS Official

ONEUS has been well known for releasing addictive title tracks that give out 2.5 generation vibes since their debut in 2019, but let’s not forget that they also have a lot of amazing B-sides that deserve the same amount of love as their title tracks. Here are 7 ONEUS’ B-side tracks from their previous albums of different genres and concepts that are equally impressive, if not even more outstanding than their title tracks. From emotional ballad, punchy rock music, to powerful dance beat, ONEUS’ discography never disappoints!

1. ‘Halley’s Comet’ (2023)

As the last song of their previous album “Pygmalion,” ‘Halley’s Comet’ is a pop ballad track that uses Halley’s Comet, a short-period comet visible by naked eye from Earth, to describe the short yet magical moment of falling in love.

The lyrics sing the members’ desire to be with their lover despite only encountering her in a fleeting moment. The sweet lyrics and easy-listening melody together highlight the members’ soothing voices. Also, the music arrangements soar with the vocals after the second chorus, which beautifully depicts the comet flying across the sky, making it a lovely track perfect to listen under a starry night.

2. ‘Stupid Love’ (2022)

This rock track from their 8th mini album, “Malus,” describes how the members insist on “stupidly” falling in love with their lover, even though they know that they are not the only one for the girl and will eventually get hurt in this unequal relationship. This song carries Y2K punk rock vibes that is recently becoming more popular in K-Pop.

The punchy rock beats also bring out a powerful and lively side of the members’ vocals. Some TOMOON (their fandom) believe that this song is actually about how the members still love their fans unconditionally even though ONEUS may not be the only group they like. Do you agree?

3. ‘Skydivin” (2022)

ONEUS often showcases mature and elegant concepts, but ‘Skydivin” is an exception. This is a summery pop rock track that sings the excitement of escaping from the boring daily life and going skydiving. The upbeat melody, LeeDo’s playful rap, coupled with cheerful choreography bring out the riveting and exhilarating feeling of skydiving.

At the same time, the song shows a bright and youthful image of the members that is rarely seen in their title tracks. ONEUS performed this song in music shows for a week following the promotion of the title track ‘Bring It On,’ and the members were so adorable in the live stages! Look at Seoho’s hair style in this performance — cuteness overload!

4. ‘Shut Up 받고 Crazy Hot!’ (2021)

This track was first released before ONEUS debuted when they were still known as the RBW BOYZ in 2018. ONEUS then performed this song during their debut showcase, but was only officially released in August 2021 as a part of “ONEUS THEATER”, a special project in which ONEUS performed their songs based on different movie concepts.

‘Shut Up 받고 Crazy Hot!’ took inspiration from Australian post-apocalyptic dystopian action film “Mad Max: Fury Road“, where the members were dressed as fighters and danced to powerful choreography in the desert. The intense marching drums and rhythmic piano melody throughout the song form an interesting contrast and create a gripping atmosphere. This song was later included as a B-side in their 6th mini album “Blood Moon,” but many TOMOON commented that the music video looks like a real comeback and the song makes a legit title track.

5. ‘Incomplete’ (2021)

This EDM track from ONEUS’ first full-length album “Devil” encompasses an encouraging message that as long as you keep going and never give up, you will eventually reach your dream, even if you start later than the others. The Korean title of the song ‘완벽하지 않아도 괜찮아’ (It’s Okay Even If It’s Not Perfect) also reminds people to recognize the incompleteness of life instead of being frustrated by adversities, as life is full of uncertainties and challenges.

The rock band sound, together with the intense rap sequences and powerful vocals of the members, further radiate the positive energy of the song. If you are struggling on the way to your dream and need something comforting to lift up your spirit, this song is for you!

6. ‘BingBing’ (2019)

Titled ‘개와 늑대의 시간’ (Time Between Dog and Wolf) in Korean, ‘BingBing’ is a B-side track from ONEUS’ second mini album “Raise Us.” The lyrics of this song derives from the French idiom “L’heure entre chien et loup”, which describes the time when twilight arrives, and it is hard to distinguish whether the shadow approaching you is a dog or a wolf. At this moment, the line between good and evil, as well as reality and illusion, becomes blurred.

This message goes in parallel with the title song ‘Twilight,’ which compares the moment when daylight dims to the sorrowful feeling of losing one’s love. The whistling hooks at the beginning and after the choruses are very catchy, pouring in moody and mysterious feelings to this track and compliment the members’ airy vocals nicely.

7. ‘Red Thread’ (2019)

‘Red Thread’ is a mid-tempo EDM-influenced ballad track featured in their debut mini album “Light Us.” In East Asian culture, red thread symbolizes destiny, where it is believed that two people are connected by an invisible red thread if they are meant to be together. ‘Red Thread’ makes reference to this idea and talks about the members’ journey of following the red thread in search of their true love, singing that they will eventually find their soulmate because they are destined to be with her.

The song starts off with a calm piano melody, then gradually builds up emotions with the compelling synth sounds and powerful rap. Apart from the dynamic arrangement, the choreography of this song is also very graceful, where the members dance with red cloths which symbolize the red thread.
