A MONBEBE spills the beans about her favorite group,ย MONSTA X, from their favorite contents, to their experience as a fan of the group. Check out their interview below!
How and when did you become a Monbebe?
I became a MONBEBE in March of 2018 shortly after finding their music video (MV) for ‘Hero’ (Rooftop ver.). From there it was a deep dive into the lore and theories behind all their MVs up to that point and I haven’t looked back since.
What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?
Honestly? Seeing how much fun they have being together is one of the main reasons I love MONSTA X. It is never a dull moment with them but they can be serious too of course. Other reasons would be how much they truly love to perform, make music and choreographies for MONBEBE, they are one of those groups that when you look at them, you just know that this is what they are meant to do. Hearing stories from staff of various programs orย business owners/employees they encounter about how sweet and thoughtful all the guys are is so heartwarming as well.
Who caught your attention at first and why?
Oh boy, that’s a hard one to answer! I can truthfully say all of them did, the visuals are not lacking at all with the group, but if I have to pick just one member, I would have to say WonHo, who is now a soloist under Starship Entertainment’s subsidary label Highline Entertainment. WonHo’s confidance was really striking to me while watching ‘Hero’ MV and he just kinda pulled me into finding more content by the group.
Can you also recommend a content video by your favorite group?
Absolutely! MONSTA X did a series collaboration with NCSoft back in 2019 that had video content and merchandise (notebooks, plushies, figurines, ect.), the project was called “TwoTuckGom” and has 4 seasons on YouTube. I suggest new fans to check them out for some of the cutest content ever. The first season of “TwoTuckGom,” “Puppy Day” is a top favorite of mine.
Another content series I would highly recommend to new and old fans alike is the survival show that formed MONSTA X, “NO.MERCY.” A lot of fans do avoid it because it is very emotional and often times hard to watch but it gives a greater appreciation for all the hardwork they went through to debut and why they are so humble and sincere when they thank the fans for supporting them to this day.
Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?
ShowNu’s line from ‘Beautiful’, “๋ ์ง์ผ์ค๊ฒ ๋ ์์๊ฒ ํผ์ด์ค” roughly translates to “Iโll protect you, so you can bloom more beautifully”. When I first heard/read that line I thought it was tragically poetic but when the events of late 2019 happened it became more meaningful to me and has influenced me to work harder to support all 7 of them in everything that they pursue.
Is there some food you saw your bias group eat that made you crave it too?
Tteokbokki, Gorgonzola, & Honey pizza and corn cheese are three foods I have seen the guys eat a number of times on various V-Lives (r.i.p. V-Live ๐ฅบ). Will say that the pizza was a little disappointing when I tried to make it myself, but tteokbokki and corn cheese on the other hand are so good! Following a group that loves food, and having a bais that LOVES food most of all, I have tried to find more Korean foods to try and it is such a fun experience!
Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?
I have made quite a few over the years, some didn’t last due to just life in general happening or differences of opinions, unfortunately.ย My longest K-Pop-made friendship is nearing 6 years this coming spring and I am so thankful to have made such an amazing friend.
What type of concept do you prefer: cute, dark, sexy, etc?
With MONSTA X, you get a little bit of everything and they can pull off every concept with ease. Picking a favorite is almost impossible but I think I would have to go with the mafia/undercover concept in ‘Gambler’. A very close second would be the time-traveler concept that was the main lore behind a lot of their earlier MVs and was touched back on in their single ‘Kiss Or Death’, when they worked with Universe. This one also had themes of time-detectives as well. Overall, MONSTA X releases story-rich music videos and DetectiveBEBE (Detective MONBEBE) can have some of the best theories to go along with it all.
Any final comments or thoughts?
The “2018 Winter Olympics” inย Pyeongchang opened up a whole new world of muisc for me and allowed me to discovery so many groups I had never heard before. I am so grateful that I found MONSTA X when I did.
