Zelo Officially Heads Off For His Mandatory Military Enlistment

Choi JunHong is known within the dance and K-Pop community for many reasons. He is known for graduating from SOPA back in 2015, his outstanding career with the South Korean boy group B.A.P, hosting different dance classes, and even auditioning to be a contestant on the popular “Street Man Fighter” back in 2022. 

Choi JunHong, otherwise known as Zelo, is currently an independent soloist, rapper, and singer-songwriter. He made his solo debut with the mini album “Distance” back in June of 2019. Afterwards, he continued his music career by releasing the following: “Day2Day”, “Mi Amor”, “SCARECROW”, “BLAME”, “ON A ROLL”, “Back On The Road”, “DEADLINE”, and “SMILE”, all of which can be found on Spotify.

The idol previously announced his plans for military enlistment back in October. However, it was later confirmed via livestream about his future and his official enlistment date. While this news might make some fans sad, he provided a heartwarming Instagram post featuring himself and former groupmate Moon JongUp on Instagram, causing waves of heartfelt nostalgia. He later answered some fan questions in a small Q&A session and released the following Instagram Stories about his enlistment.

Similarly to Bang YongGuk who also released music for fans before his military enlistment, fans couldn’t help but find a familiar and soft comfort as Zelo announced his newest EP ahead of his enlistment. The album itself is a well-known genre to many Zelo fans for its classic and soft R&B and soul-like elements. Paired with Zelo’s soft vocals and English, it’s an album many have come to love. These elements can also be found in the popular EP, “SCARECROW“.

The newest EP, “ENOUGH“, consists of a previously released track ‘Possessed’ as the first track within the album. The album also contains the following 3 tracks: ‘Sunrise’, ‘Overnight’, and ‘Butterfly’.

Although it’s not something K-Pop fans wish upon their idols, fans understand that with mandatory military service the individual often gains large amounts of respect from others, while developing different strengths and skills. They are even admired and respected by many of their military peers, an important aspect for many individuals. Some even gaining a comforting sense of community.
