A Colde Blue warmly talks about her concert experience for Colde’s Vancouver tour stop

There’s no doubt that music is something that impacts a lot of individuals throughout the world, often crossing boundaries no matter the language, paired with good rhythm, dance moves, charisma and lyrics. There’s always an artist out there for everyone, thanks to the horde of different genres (like Classical Music, Electronic (EDM), Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues, Latin Music, Soul, Hip Hop, Reggae, New Age Music, Indie, Dubstep, Corrido, Canadian Folk Music or even Gospel Music), depending on which person you ask, there is always familiar names or new artists to check out no matter where you are located in the world. Music is often a conversation that connects people to each other and allows us to have new experiences and meet new people we never might have otherwise. 

While getting into a music genre or just trying to find something that suits you taste, often times a lot of searching is done. Either through digging different playlists on your favourite streaming platform, friend suggestions, or listening to the top/ most popular artists within that genre. It goes without saying that its definitely an interesting topic of conversation as each individual enjoys different artists. This is no different for different countries and the hidden genres within it. 

When getting into the indie, self producing and r&b category in general, I was introduced to a lot of artists. Digging through different artist profiles to find the taste and style I was looking for during that time, including an artist I could connect with and wanted to write or stream. Although he didn’t officially have a fandom name during that time frame, Colde was that artist and all rounder for me. 

Colde would announce his [ BluePrint ] tour earlier this year, starting off with Minneapolis, Chicago and Toronto dates and would visit various cities within his tour of North America, while some dates are currently listed as [ To be Determined ], a majority of his tour is currently seen as almost completed.

“What made you fall in love with Colde? His music, theme/style or something else?”

For me, it was during a very uncertain part of my life, a group I liked called TRCNG and B.A.P were facing various difficulties and issues with their (now) former company. A lot of fans were uncertain of the future, paired with the uncertainty of a group called MVP, I really wanted to support an artist fully, someone who could help me throughout this time, Colde and his company’s artist (such as Khakii) were those artist for me. 

What is the meaning behind Colde’s fandom name? What did you think of the fanbase during the show? 

For a long time we didn’t really have a fandom name, we often just referred to ourselves as fans and didn’t make a big deal about it, but when Colde began to promote more and more, more releases, more singles, and since a lot of people were finding his music due to some big collabs and his songs getting a lot of hits he finally announced his fandom name!

Our name is a really cute twist on ‘Code Blue’, which is one of his colours of his brand and his stage name, ‘Colde’. Sometimes fandom names are so different and don’t always translate well to English, but I actually really do like it, I think it suits him pretty well. 

Regarding the fanbase to my experience at least, a lot of people were really nice and calm. Even without asking everyone formed into a single file line for merchandise, no one passed each other to get ahead, and no fights broke out, the line went fast and was a really great first experience. I managed to grab a white ‘blueprint’ tour date hoodie which I just love, although a little pricey I think next time it would be nice to see Canadian (CAD) prices instead of the USD pricing, as our currencies are different and it was far more expensive. I’m really introverted (although getting better), it was a healthy mixture of male/female/nonbinary fans and no issues really broke out, I think someone fell by accident but nothing to bad, it was pretty manageable and a great experience. 

“Is there some content, music, film or live clip you would want to suggest to new fans or want to suggest for those trying to get into Korean indie or Korean R&B?”/

For me even if not all his older content has English /Subtitles, and around the time I attempted to get into video editing, his style of his vlogs, covers and more were always something I just gravitated to and loved. Paired with his love for music and respect for his fans, it was such an interesting thing I haven’t seen before and was such a nice change to what I was used to. If you go on youtube and visit Colde’s channel, and click ‘older/oldest’ videos, you come across some of his earlier videos. Although these aren’t all my favourites, I would totally recommend: 

“Who were the guest artists on Colde’s tour for your tour stop?”

I heard that different artists from his company were actually the headliners and did their own sets, Milena was the opening artist. I have listened to her music before and she was incredible on stage, I didn’t know a lot of her songs but she was a great performer. 

She performed a couple songs and even gave certain fans gifts during her set, she was incredibly sweet and was great at controlling the crowd. During the rest between songs, someone yelled that she was stunning/pretty and she cutely thanked them, while someone also mentioned that they loved her tattoos she smiled a lot, and I thought it was a great entrance. 

After, a duo known as ‘Basecamp’ who is a male duo band and producer underneath the company, they debuted in 2015 and have worked with a lot of artists throughout the years. But even if they seemed kinda nervous honestly I thought they did well, both sang well and the guitarist was so good!. The keyboardist mic was a little quiet (he could have been nervous), but I believe he said they were performing “()” for the first time or for the first time in a while and hoped fans would enjoy it. They were great and I hope with the more they perform they gain more confidence. 

“Can you share a memory from the concert and your favourite performance from the night?”

It was my second concert this year but it was so meaningful to me, as someone who has been writing for Colde about 4 years now, Colde was so incredible and his live vocals were so peaceful and nice, he knew how to work the crowd and made eye contact with me numerous times. He waved at the fans, made eye contact with the camera, and even continued a special gift ‘trend’? he started in his concerts in Korea where he would gift fans ‘sunflowers’ during his ‘sunflower’ set, although I didn’t get one, it was such a cute and memorable moment.

Not only was he stunning in his long skirt, but his song choices just made me smile so much. I truly didn’t expect him to do ‘YAYAYAYA’ as it was an older song, same with my favourite work out tune ‘LIGHTER’. I never thought he was into swears, but his ‘Let’s fucking light it up!’ was in such cute english, performing Sunflower, and even ‘Star’, it was just perfect. I work as a concert photographer in Canada (punk rock, metal bands) and I took that experience to take some photos and videos throughout the show, from my second row and middle seat, it was some of the best memories from the evening. The encore stage and DJ set were so unexpected but amazing none the less!.
