To those who are new to K-Pop, or are looking to understand their artists a little more, often times, you find yourself diving into things like podcasts, interviews or behind-the-scenes clip. However, it is a struggle for many to find someone for advice or relatability if you deal with stress or other mental health issues.ย
To answer the question, “What is DIVE Studios?”, and “What is Mindset?”, even if you are unaware of the name, you might have come across the company on YouTube or TikTok due to numerous videos and podcasts clips going viral amongst the fanbase and numerous fans of the artists promoting the show on their SNS (Social Networking Sites). Some of these episodes including but not limited to:ย
To summarize the idea of the content platform itself, Dive Studios have a separate YouTube channel and Spotify Channel for its podcast episodes for fans who enjoy listening while on the go or when doing chores, but the general idea is for those within the artist industry (both Western and Asian) to be able to connect with fans, have open discussions and episodes talking about self care, wellness, authentic storytelling, and about struggles with mental health. This is something very rare to find, and even more meaningful for fans who struggle with the same issues. Dive Studios also has a Discord community where fans discuss inside jokes, their own struggles, find support and often have chats with Eddie or Brian Nam (Eric Nam‘s brothers and Co-Founders of Dive Studios), even taking the experience to another level by asking for constant feedback from fans, and answering questions via Twitter, while doing a live on Discord with fans.ย
Dive Studios become viral amongst fans of many artists for not only being “a safe space within a safe space,” but also for attending and holding in-person events to discuss the same issues and questions they receive on Discord, such as “Mindset Town Hall” and “Mindset College Events.”ย
Depending which artist you follow, you could possibly find a series podcast or radio show featuring them on Dive Studios. Some current examples include: “PENTAGON‘s Jack Pod”, “Unboxing With ASTRO‘s JinJin and PENTAGON‘s Kino,” “GET REAL,” “DAEBAK SHOW,” “Stefanie and Joan‘s Beauty Bar,” “NONSENSIBLE With Sam, Dave and Saul,” “How Did I Get Here?”, and more.ย
With one of the founders being Eric Nam, and his connection and presence within the K-Pop industry and Western Music Industry, the daily self-care check-in app and resource can often feature many artists within its content and apps. This includes but is not limited to: PENTAGON’s Kino, JinHo and HongSeok, BM of KARD, SeoRi, WooSung of The Rose, Ashley Choi, Minnie, SoYeon, and ShuHua of (G)I-DLE, DPR, eaJ, Eric Nam, Jay B of GOT7, Bobby and Jay of iKON, Jamie, Aaron Kwak, B.I, Tablo of Epik High, Vernon, DK, Joshua, MinGyu, and WonWoo of SEVENTEEN.
If you are like me and are unsure or new to self-care and self-care apps in general, and you want something easy to understand and follow along with, without having to pay for anything, DiveStudios’ Mindset is a great app to start with.
If you know of something similar to Dive Studios, or a podcast run by South Korean idols (like “Korean CowBoys,” for example), and want to share it with others to start a conversation, don’t hesitate to do so in the comments below. The best thing we can do for mental health is starting the conversation, rather then being scared and not talking about it at all. This brings a lot more damage than we think.ย
Have you downloaded Mindset or checked out the video podcasts on YouTube? What was your favorite episode or viral clip?ย
