A fuse talks about her bias Wyatt and love for ONF

When looking at my username its clear that I enjoy the groups MONSTA X and Seventeen but at the same time I actually enjoy a lot of other artists and genres within the main label ‘K-Pop’. Often ranging from independent solo artists to company signed artists or groups within K-Rock/Bands, K Indie and K R&B. 

One of these artists and no doubt one of my top artists includes the 6 member South Korean boy group underneath WM Entertainment. The group itself debuted on August 3rd 2017 with two leaders: Hyojin and Seungjun (formerly known as J-US). Although I would hear of the group within this time frame, I don’t think I would officially become involved within the fandom until late 2018/2019, officially joining ONF’s group accounts and later joining their WeVerse community in 2023. 

ONF is a team where ON and OFF coexist, as previously described, “ON’s strong appearance on stage and OFF’s amicable charm and individuality of the members when they are not on stage. The group is split into two teams. ON: Hyojin, E-Tion and Minkyun (MK) and OFF: (Seungjun (Formerly J-US), Wyatt and U). Thanks to these different teams, they each specializes in something different. For the ON team focuses on vocals the OFF team specializes in performances and offer a well rounded group.” Even if you don’t know the 6 members of ON and Off (ONF) the group is lovingly and notably known within the K-Pop community for their song ‘Beautiful Beautiful’, ‘Popping‘, ‘We Must Love’, ‘Complete‘, ‘Ugly Dance’, ‘My Name Is’ and most recently ‘Bye My Monster’.

Each of the members offer something different to fans and mean something different to each Fuse, but as others can also agree, each member brings a sort of positive influence and comforting appeal or vibe to the fandom. Paired with our close friendship, Fuse are also known for their respectfulness towards the members and even within their own fandom. 

When it comes to the members, although I admire and respect all of them, during my early fan days, Shim JaeYoung (also referred to as Wyatt), MK (MinKyun) and U (Yuto) stood out to me the most. From catchy songs on their SoundClouds or recommendations to positive attitudes. Apart from his deep voice, Wyatt is known within the fanbase for creating a safe environment, comforting and uplifting/ encouragement towards anyone who has questions about the gym, where to get started or looking for positive words. 

Do you have any special or unique memories with ONF? 

Ever since I deleted Instagram and my previous Twitter account I actually haven’t thought about fan to idol interaction in a while, and I often don’t go out of my way to go about getting a reaction or a message read. But ever since getting WeVerse in 2023, one of the most special moments would defiantly be getting my letters recognized and ‘hearted’ by Wyatt on WeVerse on the same day of ONF’s anniversary. 

You mentioned Wyatt is your bias/main bias within the group, can you tell us more about him? 

Shim JaeYoung (Wyatt) is often someone recognized by K-Pop fans for his physique and deep voice, he’s also often mentioned by those who have an interested in the gym and working out and is well respected because of that. Within ONF however he’s actually the main rapper and lead dancer of the group, but at the same time and in his free time, he usually uploads his songs or covers on his SoundCloud or sometimes if fans are lucky the fancafe. 

But Wyatt is also someone who I look to for positivity. For me personally I have been working out for three years but only started to take it seriously and get back into it this year. I’m not sure if its because of Wyatt, but I have switched my mindset a lot about working out. I used to really hate working out without a goal, or if I couldn’t complete my goal I would become angry at myself. Watching Wyatt’s channel or even his activity in liking my posts or fan letters gives me a lot of positive encouragement, I’m not the greatest yet but I really recommend his stuff if you want that type of positive influence. 

How is Wyatt as a singer songwriter? Is there any songs by him that you enjoy the most or want to promote? 

As I have already mentioned his previous songs and covers, I think if I could bring attention to a certain song or release, I would want to do his first self produced project that he did with fellow member Seungjun (J-US) on his YouTube channel. We had no idea he was doing something like this and kinda just dropped it out of the blue, but its a song that brings a lot of comfort and provides easy listening. It’s not a style you think ONF would do, but its done so well.
