Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello, I’m Nonon from Indonesia.

Who is your favorite Korean actor/actress? How and when did you become a fan?

Kang YoungSuk! The first time I saw him in the drama “Insider,” he was very charming with his blond hair, besides the fact that his acting was also good! The character he plays is like the boss of the prison inmates (he is also a feared prisoner but there is an adorable impression too). The plot of this drama is very complicated but every time Kang YoungSuk appears, it feels like the complexity disappears (haha). This is where I started to like him and became a fan.

Can you recommend dramas or movies starring your favorite actor for new fans?

I think the drama that recently aired “Welcome to Samdal-ri.” The genre is romantic comedy and healing. I don’t think I will share many spoilers but I think new fans will like him because he plays a hardworking man and is totally green flag man. You can also watch this drama on Netflix.

What was your favorite answer given by your favorite actor in an interview?

Actually these are not words like quotes or anything else. My favorite is when he answers questions on “Allure Self Profile” Q: “What is your favorite application?” Kang YoungSuk answered YouTube, then he complained that he was addicted to scrolling YouTube shorts for hours and couldn’t sleep because of it. After that he told the viewers to be careful on YouTube haha. This makes us realize that public figures are also ordinary people who can be addicted to scrolling videos on the internet until they lose track of time. You can watch the full here.

What is Kang YoungSuk’s influence on your daily life or yourself?

Maybe for myself, I remember he once said this in one of his interviews “I grew up in a harmonious family, my motto is to maintain this situation. I am grateful that I can still do what I want.
I also grew up in an ordinary family and surrounded by good friends too. They supported me for whatever I wanted. Kang YoungSuk’s words above motivate me to always be grateful and maintain this good situation

For Kpopmap readers who are not familiar with Korean dramas/movies yet, please tell us what makes Korean actors and Korean dramas/movies attractive to you.

In my opinion, being an actor is very difficult, especially controlling emotions, when acting starts the actor will start to lose himself and change into the character he is playing. I think that’s what impressed me about them.
K-Drama is like another world. I have liked K-Drama since I was in high school. Because I am a home child, I consider K-Drama to be my other world apart from school life. Maybe this is a bit of a TMI, but in the past, I often came to cafes just to ask for wifi to watch K-Dramas, and only spent $3-4 for snacks at the cafe. K-Drama is also like payday, like “Next Saturday, the drama airs.” I can’t wait to watch it! Do you understand what I mean? It’s hard to explain, just like “The thing to wait for.”

What genre do you want your favorite actor to appear in? What’s the reason?

I know Kang YoungSuk has starred in a lot of thriller genre series, but I hope he will play a genre like a survival thriller like the K-Drama “All of us are dead”, “Sweet Home” or movies “Concrete Utopia”. Because, the survival situation will definitely be thrilling and they have to survive in a situation like that. I want see Kang YoungSuk to act as a survivor and see how he survives.

Who are actors you would like your favorite actor to act with? What’s the reason?

Actor Park SungHoon! However, it has been realized in the drama “The Kidnapping Day,” YoungSuk plays the villain and SungHoon plays the police, even though there are very few scenes where they meet, I still like it. Previously, Kang YoungSuk and Park SungHoon had appeared together in a theater performance “모범생들” (model students) in 2015.

Would you like to see your favorite actor in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do? 

I remember last year when he was interviewed this question came up “Are you interested in joining variety?” Kang YoungSuk answered “It seems like if talk shows like that can’t be done, I don’t have the talent to tell stories. Observation variety shows also can’t be done, because I tend not to do anything at home.” Even though he answered like that, I’m really looking forward to him joining the observation variety like “I live alone” or anything else, I want to see his life at home, even if it’s just lying around watching YouTube shorts. Kang YoungSuk is a musical actor, his singing is so good, I hope too he can join variety “The King of Mask Singer”.

Which co-actor do you think had a best chemistry with your favorite actor?

I think other fans will agree with me too, Kang YoungSuk and Kang HaNeul in the drama Insider! Their chemistry is the best. In fact, after the insider drama finished, they played a drama together again in “The Kidnapping Day” even though Kang Haneul only had a cameo there. Kang YoungSuk and Kang HaNeul have been friends since they were in college and currently they are in the same agency TH company.

What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them?

Kang YoungSuk has a twin, an older sister (they have the same birthday) but their personalities are different. The older sister looks like her father and Kang YoungSuk looks like mother.
Kang YoungSuk has a scar on his hand.
His initial interest in acting was when he was still in high school. At first he was bored with the sports academy and switched to attending the acting academy. He enjoyed it there.
Kang YoungSuk’s fan club name is “잔여0석” (jan-yeo0seok) means “0 seats remaining”.
