A Mexican K2YWE In U.S. Talks About Their Favorite Group BLANK2Y And Their Bias DongHyuk

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Eden is the next fan to answer our questions. Eden is a Mexican living the U.S. and they are a fan of BLANK2Y, and particularly of DongHyuk. Check out how they entered the fandom, the songs and content they advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hey! My nickname is Eden and I’m mexican but born and raised in the US.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I started keeping an eye on them a while before debut because I was hoping to see a specific person debut in the team. DongHyuk is that person (I was a fan of him when he was in ENOi)! When it was confirmed he would be joining the team I decided to become a fan!

 

What are the reasons why this rookie group is your favorite group?

As I got to know the members, I began to like their personalities and talents a lot. They’re my favorite group because of their stage presence and individual charms!

 

What do you think differentiates this rookie group from the others?

BLANK2Y is special because of the members. Each person has something about them that is unique to who they are. some members were even previously in another group. Also, SoDam (the youngest) has an identical twin, which i think is pretty special.

 

For the readers who are completely new to the group and members, can you introduce them with your own words?

The members are actually really funny and silly in their own little way. I think it’s cute how they play around with each other, too. SoDam was once asked what he thinks each members mental age is, and he gave most of them younger mental ages because of how playful and cute they are. Their personalities really shine through in their reality show “BLANK2Y’S”!

 

Who caught your attention at first and why? Did you know any members prior to their debut?

DongHyuk and Louis caught my attention first! Louis is just very handsome to me, and DongHyuk is special to me because I’ve known him for a long time. I mostly only really knew DongHyuk pre-debut because I was a huge fan of ENOi before they sadly disbanded, but I also had seen and heard about YoungBin because he was on “I-LAND” and Louis because he was in 1the9.

 

Do you have a bias yet? If yes, tell us why.

DongHyuk! he is my ult bias! DongHyuk is just a very sweet, cute, bubbly, and silly person. He also really cares about fans and constantly makes sure to post on Twitter and fancafe. He always asks about our day and about our worries, and he is very respectful towards all kinds of people. I vibe with him well!

 

Do you have any official goods from your bias?

Yes! I have signed pages to my name from when I won a fancall with them! I also have a small collection of DongHyuk photocards.

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

My favorite title track is definitely ‘Fuego’! Personally, I think their best B-side is ‘Touch’.

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or other from your favorite group or bias?

My favorite fancam AND cover dance is ‘Pretty Girl’ (PRODUCE X 101). they performed it during a fan meeting, and it became my favorite dance cover of theirs! This is my favorite DongHyuk fancam:

What type of concept do you prefer: cute, dark, sexy, etc?

Personally, I prefer fresh and magical concepts! I also enjoy anything that mentions taboo topics.

 

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

I’ve had a good amount of interactions with BLANK2Y, like when DongHyuk called me a happy virus during a video call, but my favorite so far was one of DongHyuk’s comments on my fancafe letter! For context, i explained to him one of my worries.

 

Can you describe your bias in only one word?

There isn’t just one word that describes DongHyuk well, but the word that most closely resembles him is: warm. He is a warm person who says warm words!

 

Can you recommend a cute or funny video (30s)/gif of your bias to our readers?

I made this gif when I watched their reality show “BLANK2Y’S” because I thought it was funny that he seemed a little nosy.

 

If your bias were to collab with another idol, who do you think would be best?

OMG, I would love to see DongHyuk collab with Chuu from LOONA!! I think they would get along well and their energies would match for the collab!

 

What are the things you are looking for in their future activities?

I’m really looking forward to what concept they will try next and how their content will be designed! I’m really hoping they try a cute/fresh concept. when they did the dance cover of ‘Pretty Girl’, it was clear that they fit cuter concepts as well!

 

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

When I spoke to BLANK2Y during a fancall, I was able to ask DongHyuk to give a small message to their LGBT fans. He said “i’m cheering for you! Let’s cheer for each other and be confident.”
