A Mexican MONBEBE Shares Why MONSTA X Taught Fans To Be Kind To Each Other

Vlive x Osen

Melissa, a MONBEBE from Mexico, tells us about MONSTA X and how they taught fans to be kind to each other.

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hola, hi, hello, annyeonghaseyo, I’m Melissa or Mel, I’m a MONBEBE goes for MONSTA X fan, I’m from Mexico.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I got into the fandom after a month of going to my first K-Pop concert it was in August 5th, 2018 with “MONSTA X: World Tour The Connect” in Monterrey and I was having a tough time and I missed the sensation of the concert so in Monterrey some people from the fandom got the idea of having the movie of a concert at a cinema, by that time I was talking with another girl from the fandom but she wasn’t from my city but told me she knew someone from Monterrey and we could meet, and so then I talked to her (the Monterrey MONBEBE) if she was coming to the event and so on, since then those are my two best friends from the fandom and then in 2020 I found another Monterrey MONBEBE and turns out we were together at the university, so now it’s three Monterrey MONBEBE friends, right now (2023) I’m in my 6th anniversary as MONBEBE, I pray for life give me the opportunity to see them again on a concert or whenever it is available, I’m so happy for being part of this fandom, along with other girls we do online projects because it’s a way to show our love, to support them.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I would say because they are talented but I think that’s superficial, and I love MONSTA X because I found a safe place to be, a place where I can be myself, and I know them as idols they have an image to give to the cameras and public but when I first met them, each member has their personality and but all of them are dorky, funny, but also gentleman, kind, passionate aside from talented.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Weird thing about me but none of them caught my attention, it was all of them with their ability to dance, sing and rap at the same time, but the one who could catch it was SHOWNU.

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is ShowNu, I know singing and dancing at the same time is difficult and talking about talent he was in good condition. I like the smoothness in his movements when he dances, the quality of his voice at singing, and as a person he is very calm, patient and to be the leader of something you need those qualities aside from charisma, and he has that with his members, and with MONBEBE, he is focused on his role, has taught us to be kind and friendly with others, even tho sometimes others aren’t.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

MONSTA X has a lot of songs, taking out the solos I recommend; (OT7): ‘SHOOT OUT’ and (OT6): ‘Love Killa’ both are like the iconics songs, and they have two English albums: “ALL ABOUT LUV” and “THE DREAMING”.

for B- track; ‘GRAVITY’, it’s not a hard song to listen to, you can appreciate the voices of every member, plus the lyrics of the song are very cute.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

There is a lot of content on MONSTA X but most of the things we like to share are the shows, interviews and the show where they come out but that’s a hard thing to see so I prefer light things.

To get to know them: Documentary: “When You Call My Name MONSTA X and Gallant”.

Not a fancy side of them, but you’ll love it. “MONSTA X in JEJU”; a relaxed program, they are just chilling. (13 episodes)

MONMUKGO“; a program produced by them, for them, to the fans:

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

A song produced for MONBEBE after the storm. (2019 – 2020). JooHoney produced this song during his hiatus and show it, right away in the comeback of ‘FANTASIA’.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

Since I met MONSTA X when I was having a difficult time I found these lyrics relatable, cuz my darkness drove me to them and each MONBEBE, and when they went through their darkness I drove for them.

“Through the darkness to the place where I was with you, Drive along this road”- ‘HEAVEN’; MONSTA X (“One Of A Kind”).
I like to listen to this song when I’m driving, it’s smooth yet cool to listen.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

They are funny and kind, but also wise when it comes to words, for example I.M said on a FAN-CON “Life cannot be always sunny, it sometimes rains, snows and more, that’s why life is beautiful”, this goes for anxiety or hardship we all are having, there are some words they have said but directly to the fans and that’s only MONBEBE can have with them the connection.
These guys genuinely give themselves for their dreams and their fans and the last day of “WE ARE HERE Seoul” date WonhH said “You are my dream and you really are my everything, I will really d1e if I don’t have you, what I am trying to say is that without you, I’ll be an empty shell.” This speech is a promise for MONBEBE’s heart. It’s a longer message but you can find it on YouTube.

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being happy and healthy?

I’d like to see him solo, but if he doesn’t want I’ll just support the thing he is participating in, but for the whole group I would like to give them the big awards of every year, having sold out concert tours and albums/items in general.

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

Difficult question… fan meeting, since all of them know English I’d like to chat a bit with them or give them small gifts and thank them in person.

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

Yes, many actually but I would like to have ShowNu + JooHoney with their respective roles and switch. I know ShowNu can rap and JooHoney can sing, I saw them in 2018 and they can repeat.

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

A lot of funny moments but those are the one every fandom and idol want to live but the difficult one are the prove about the love towards each other in my case I have cried a lot many times but about my bias, ShowNu in the 2019 when the storm was over us, he (ShowNu) lost a lot of weight and I couldn’t image the pressure and the stress there was over him as the leader of MONSTA X but also the light of MONBEBE, and laughed well he is a effortless funny person and also makes me laugh but especially when he cooked for JooHoney’s birthday he was fighting with the kitchen, but in general the whole group was having a bad moment and there was a insecure vibe on the fandom and worry about the group, cuz during their difficulty the company didn’t let them have a break so MONBEBE has to there for the boys, cheering, protecting and loving them.

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

Sounds cliché but into workout and taking care of my health, those things can help us have a healthy and long-lasting life, also to take it easy, slow down to every process, enjoy what I have, and let go of those things aren’t meant to be for me but be thankful because it was useful and I have memories with it or them.

Mel’s message for MONSTA X and Shownu

I am grateful to the universe/God/life for having made me meet MONSTA X and you. I am also proud of you and the group, to ShowNu you are a great leader, thanks for be kind, calm, caring with the boys and the light of the fandom, as a MONBEBE I promise to be with you and each of the boys to infinity.
