A Thai POWER Talks About Their Favorite 5th Generation Boy Group POW

Mind is a fan of POW hailing from Thailand. Check out she entered the fandom and the impact of being a POWER to her daily life. Read her interview below!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi, I’m Mind. I’m a POWER from Thailand.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

Firstly, before I become a POWER, when Yorch was in Trainee A, I wanted to see this Thai boy get to debut. Although, it didn’t go as expected, I got a chance to see Yorch rap ‘BTBT’at B.I’s “2023 ASIA TOUR L.O.L THE HIDDEN STAGE” in Thailand. I was surprised and at that time, I was hoping that Yorch would become an idol again. And then he really debuted as part of a boy group of Grid Entertainment. When I saw the label start releasing ‘Favorite’ teasers,” I liked their vibe so much. It was fresh and clean. And there are various genres in album, so I’ve been following POW since they dropped their pre-released single ‘Favorite’ and officially debuted until now.

What are the reasons why this rookie group is your favorite group?

And let me talk about their music. There’re so many genres in the 1st EP “FAVORITE” album, like Pop, R&B, or rock elements (in ‘Amazing’). So when I listen their music, I feel fresh and alive, and their performance skills are really cool (완전 내 스타일이야). Although they have recently debuted, they don’t look like rookies. I didn’t see any of their worries on stage, and I hope that in the future they become the POW that makes POWER more and more proud.

For the readers who completely new to the group and members, can you introduce them with your own words?

– JungBin 🐶 : Leader, Vocal.
– Yorch🧸 : 맏형, Vocal, Visual.
-HyunBin🐱 : Vocal, Visual.
– DongYeon🦈 : Vocal, Main Dancer.
– Hong🦊 : Vocal, Maknae.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Yorch Yongsin a young boy who is the pride of the Thailand. Yorch caught my attention first, which made me a POWER, because he is Thai and I have been following his famous drama since he was a child, whether it be ‘ทองเนื้อเก้า’ or ‘วาสนารัก’. He’s literally good actor. So when Yorch debuted as POW, I think he can use his actor skills for 10 years to use facial expressions when he goes on stage. He did it very well and naturally. His visual is no joke. (비주얼 장난아닙니다) and his dance skills are also incredible. When he dances freestyle, his groove is really good. Moreover, he also has gentle and sweet voice. He’s really talented and he’s an all-rounder, so I decided to support Yorch as part of POW.

Do you have a bias yet? If yes, tell us why.

My bias is HyunBin because he is so cute and looks like a cat. HyunBin is sweet, joyful, full of energy and high tension. Even his speaking accent is cute and is really like a child because his hometown is in 마산. It makes me happy when I see him talking in 사투리 or smiling. By the way, when he posted a message on his SNS, his thinking, speaking, writing skills that being polite and gentle. Those message he wrote was always full of sincerity.
In addition, HyunBin is a member who fits the phrase “ACE AND ALL-ROUNDER” very well – whether it be his beautiful voice, or his sharp dance skills. He’s handsome and pretty at the same time. (꽃미남이에요). And I think, he can be a rapper as well from his vocal skills in ‘Amazing’ song, so this is why I like HyunBin the most. (But actually all the members of POW are really cute.)
And I want to share his fancam. HyunBin wearing this school uniform on stage, his natural facial expressions are very cute and he really suits this outfit.

What do you particularly like in this debut title track? Do you have a favorite B-side?

I’ve liked ‘Favorite’ since I watched the teaser. When the song was released, I really liked the melody, and the meaning of the this song is very good as well, especially “My favorite part 웃으면 달이 되는 모양, 날 안아줘 그러면 난 마음을 놓아.” It gives me an energy through the lyrics and feels like the existence of POW makes me breathe.

요즘엔 It’s winter and Christmas is coming soon, isn’t it? So For B-side tracks, ‘Slow Dancing’ is perfect for this festival because the lyrics say “Cause when we’re slow dancing 눈이 내리는 이 밤 난 너와 forget our plans.” When I heard it, I really loved the lyrics so much. It mentions about dancing in the snow with a lover. It feels warm even though winter is coming (in Thailand or other countries in the world). In addition, Yorch and JeongBin co-wrote the lyrics as well so I want everyone listens and gives lots of love to this song.

Can you recommend a content video (variety series, song cover, dance cover, etc.) by your favorite group?

These are performances that show the strong dance skills of POW. Their ability is so amazing! They’re not only good at singing but also dancing.

I like POW members when they are together. They always cute, pure and always respect each other so their relationship makes me fall in love with them. And I want to recommend everyone to see “POW ON” contents. That’s the cutest thing in the world.

I’d like to show POW singing a Thai song (‘MR. Everything’). When they came to the “OCTOPOP 2023” concert in Thailand. I was so surprised that they had a good Thai accent and sang very smooth, so I admire POW singin in Thai that ทำได้ดีมากเลยค่ะ = 파우 너무 고생했어요!

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

As I recommended the title track above, (‘Favorite’), I do love the part that “My Favorite Part 웃으면 달이 되는 모양, 날 안아줘 그러면 난 마음을 놓아,” because the lyrics here make me feel like I deserve to be loved and I hope to be special for someone in the world.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

현빈이가 말한 적이 있는데 “아무것도 아닌 저를 반짝번짝 빛나게 해줘서 고마워요” 그리고 “아직 많이 부족하지만 파워들과 함께 부족한 점 채워나가면서 멋있는 팀 만들어보자구요!” 그 글들이 보니까 너무 감동 받아서 울고싶었거든요. 현빈이와 POW가 저한테 너무 특별하다는 걸 알았으면 좋겠고 저도 POW가 더 빛날 수 있도록 응원하고 싶어요.

What is your wish for POW, aside from being happy and healthy?

Each POW member has a desire to have a world tour, receive the Rookie of the year award, release more songs, and participate in the music production. If these things are what POW members desire, I hope all their dreams will come true.
And I want to meet them at concert. Watching the concert was like forgetting everything in my life for a while. I really like to listen to my favorite songs from our beloved artists at a concert. I hope that in the future I will see POW in a big concert hall.

What is POW’s influence on your daily life?

First of all, I studied Korean in the university. After I graduated, I thought I would give up and not use Korean in everyday life anymore but I want to thank POW for giving me confidence again and encouraging me to translate various contents for POWER to see POW’s cuteness. Even though I wasn’t good at Korean that much, I was happy to do it. By the way, I’m really glad to know POW because my growing adult life had many obstacles but POW made me feel less sad and able to smile more.

This is my message to congratulate POW at “ASC” (“After School Club”) and I want to congratulate them again. Thank you for being a part of my life. Let’s grow up together!

And at the “OCTOPOP 2023” concert in Thailand, I almost cried because POW heard my voice and they came waved to me. POW saw my cheering paper sign and JungBin remembered my paper sign as well. They make me very happy and I want to cheer them up at all activities and concert as well.
