Are you also curious about fellow K-Pop fans?! Let’s hear their stories and interests in Kpopmap Fan Interview Project.
There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.
So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.
Charity from the US is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of BTS and more particularly of RM! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!
Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?
My name is Charity. I’m 30 years old and from the United States. I’m from Georgia, also known as the Peach State.
How and when did you enter the fandom?
I’ve become an ARMY after my long-time best friend introduced me to BTS. I’ve entered in October 2017. So a little over five years.
What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?
BTS has been my inspiration in every aspect of my life. From loving myself to being able to open out of my shell. I have been on the autism spectrum disorder since I was nine years old. To me, the reason why I love them is because their music helped me through the past five years. Also, I’ve been to their concert in 2018 in Chicago. After seeing them live, it’s something I definitely want to experience when they come back in 2025.
Who caught your attention at first and why?
NamJoon (RM) and JiMin. It was NamJoon because of his old stage name, Rap Monster, and his talented rapping skills. And JiMin, because his voice is so angelic and he’s adorable.
Who is your bias, and why?
NamJoon all the way. It’s kind of hard to explain everything. I can write a ten page paper on him. After being my ultimate bias for five years, I would say it is because he’s transparent to ARMY and he loves going to art museums like I do when I get the chance.
Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?
Oh, this is fun. The title track I pick is ‘Boy With Luv’ featuring Halsey. It’s super catchy, the music video is so pretty, and the song is about ARMY. A B-side track I would recommend is ‘Love Maze’ from “Love Yourself: Tear” album, which is my favorite BTS album.
Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?
I love NamJoon’s V Lives (Weverse now). I don’t have a particular favorite, but the last live he has done on Weverse was him explaining his “Indigo” album. It’s a 25-minute album. I have videos of BTS while I saw them in concert. My favorite fancam I have was during ‘So What’, when NamJoon was walking and dancing. Towards the end of the video, he turned his head in my direction and I’ve fangirled.
Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?
The video where Jin was doing the behind the scenes for “The Astronaut” music video and seeing J-Hope supporting Jin. That video was absolutely adorable.
Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?
“Moonchild, you shine. When moon rise, it’s your time. Come on, ya’ll. Moonchild, don’t cry. When moon rise, it’s your time
Come on, ya’ll. Moonchild, you shine. When moon rise, it’s your time. Come on, ya’ll.”
What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?
For me, to relax and to go “NamJooning”. This would include walking outside, enjoy artwork at an art museum, and just to enjoy delicious food in a lovely atmosphere.
What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?
To meet other fellow ARMY’S who share the same excitement and love of BTS as me.
Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?
BTS has a diverse range of fans. For me, I’m the same age as Jin (international age). So I can relate to all of them in a way. Age, gender, different ethnic backgrounds, etc. That is what makes BTS and ARMY so unique as well as being stronger together.
Charity’s message for RM:
NamJoon, I’ve been a fan of yours for five years. I’ve seen you grow as an artist, writer, producer, and rapper. Now, you’ve become more open and free within the past year. You’re a wonderful leader, love ARMY very much, and show how much you love your fellow members as brothers. You’re cute and handsome at the same time. I hope one day you’ll find true happiness by just continuing to love yourself.
Charity’s message for BTS:
BTS, thank you for being a part of my latter part of my 20’s. Thanks for giving me strength and one day when I go to your concert once more, I will continue to chant the fan chant.
Thank you for answering our questions, Charity.
