All members of BLACKPINK have officially renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, as announced by the agency on December 6 KST. YG Entertainment confirmed the successful agreement within their board of directors for exclusive group contracts with all four members.
This announcement was highly anticipated by fans around the world, since the expiration of the group’s seven year contract in August of 2023.ย
The announcement of BLACKPINK’s contract renewal had an immediate impact on YG Entertainment’s stock price, leading to a surge of 58,000 won per share. This follows a period of uncertainty within the group’s contract renewal period, during which the label’s stock price had dipped into the 40,000 won range.ย
Despite the lack of individual exclusive contracts, both the group and label are expected to continue to reap substantial profits from BLACKPINK’s group activities.
The group has recently concluded their highly successful “Born Pink” world tour, attracting 1.8 million attendees, and generating cumulative sales estimated at 350 billion won, across 22 countries.
Notably, while the decision to continue group activities has been made, individual contracts for each member are still pending finalization.
It is noteworthy that two members, including Lisa, have chosen to part ways with YG Entertainment, while discussions with the remaining two members are ongoing.
