Celebrating One Year Of HORI7ON: The Rise Of An All-Filipino Global Pop Group

It has been an exhilarating journey for the all-Filipino global pop group, HORI7ON, as they mark their first year anniversary since their formation. On September 7, 2022, executives from ABS-CBN, MLD Entertainment, and Kamp Global came together to sign a deal that would introduce a Filipino boy band in South Korea, managed and trained by the three companies. This collaboration aimed to showcase the immense talent and potential of Filipino artists on the global stage.

The formation of HORI7ON was no ordinary process. The members of the group were determined through the survival competition series called Dream Maker, which aired from November 19, 2022, until February 12, 2023. Over 62 contestants competed for a chance to be part of this groundbreaking project. Ultimately, Jeromy Batac, Marcus Cabais, Kyler Chua, Vinci Malizon, Reyster Yton, Kim Ng, and Winston Pineda emerged as the chosen members, forming the lineup of HORI7ON.

What sets HORI7ON apart is the diverse background and experience of its members. Marcus Cabais, for instance, started as a child actor and made his film debut in 2018. He later appeared on popular shows like It’s Showtime and Team Yey!. Jeromy Batac showcased his talent on Little Big Shots in 2017, while Kim Ng competed on TV5’s Top Class in 2022. These members brought their unique skills and experiences to the group, creating a dynamic and well-rounded ensemble.

Before their departure to South Korea, HORI7ON engaged in various promotional activities in the Philippines. They embarked on a mall show tour and held their first fan meeting event at the New Frontier Theater on April 22, 2023. The group also had the opportunity to perform on popular variety shows like It’s Showtime and ASAP Natin ’To, further cementing their presence in the local music scene.

The anticipation for HORI7ON’s debut grew as they released three pre-debut digital singles: “Dash,” “Salamat,” and “Lovey Dovey.” These songs showcased their versatility and ability to captivate audiences with their music. Finally, on July 24, 2023, HORI7ON made their official debut with the release of their full-length studio album, Friend-Ship, and its lead single, “Six7een.” The album received positive reviews and garnered millions of views on YouTube within 24 hours.

Since their debut, HORI7ON has continued to make waves in the music industry. They performed at the 2023 PPOPCON and held their first overseas performance at Kamp Fest in Mexico City. The group’s talent and hard work were recognized when they won the Focus Award for music at the 8th Asia Artist Awards, making them the first Filipino act to participate in the prestigious ceremony.

Looking ahead, HORI7ON has exciting plans for the future. MLD Entertainment confirmed that the group will release a new single in January 2024, building on their success and further solidifying their place in the industry.
