Pentagon (펜타곤) who originally debuted as 10 members after competing on MNET’s survival program [ Pentagon Maker ] back in 2016 before they would later debut with the self entitled 7 track album [ Pentagon ] on October 10th 2016 with ‘Gorilla’ acting as the title track. Throughout their career the group would attract numerous attention of fans and the general public through popular songs ‘Shine’, ‘Shine’ (Japanese VER), Daisy, Humph!, Naughty Boy, Do or Not and most recent ‘Feelin like’ and ‘Sparkling Night’. 

Feelin like (The title track of the EP IN:VITE U) which would be released back in 2022 which feature the following 6 tracks: One Shot, The Game, Call My Name, Sparkling Night and BAD. The album would show off Pentagon’s vocalist talents in songs like ‘The Game’, where the members would showcase their ability to do hard notes paired with an impressive intro made it a performance within itself. 

Seeing the popularity with the album, and the album itself still being one of the top favourites in the fanbase itself, Pentagon would perform and release an official live clip with the songs ‘Sparkling Night’, ‘Feelin’ Like’ and ‘Feelin’ Like Japanese Ver Special Live Clip. 

Since also making his modelling debut back in 2018 at the Seoul Fashion Show and for taking part in a Chinese Drama, the artist would face numerous health issues throughout 2018 to 2020. Temporarily halting activities within this time frame and updating fans throughout with smaller updates before returning to the group in 2020 before he would follow the members Yeo One, Yuto, Kino and Wooseok to leave their agency before Hongseok would also choose to leave, but all remaining in the group Pentagon. The members also taking part in assuring fans they are still together and reporting against false journalist claims through their own separate Instagram stories.  

Apart from all of this and after the lockdowns and hardships faced by everyone in 2020, Yanan would continue to add to his already impressive resume with numerous activities ranging but not limited to; modelling, paid sponsorships, acting and more.

1. Modelling and paid activities.

When it comes to Sponsored or paid content, it is often premium content where a sponsor pays a publisher, influencer or press website to create and distribute (often a promotional video), or future selected (often hand picked products) into their content and share them within their content to fans. It’s a well used and active way to campaign a brand. Shared through his official Weibo account, Yanan has shared paid sponsored ship content for popular make up brands and foundations. One video (translated from Chinese to English), shared that the one product by the company ‘MAC’ would contain and talk about skin care, new product of the day, make up foundation and another entitled ‘AHC’. 

In the post regarding AHC where he would model for the brand in the post, he would talk about the Men’s Skin Care Set, Little Fairy Water, Lotion Skin Care Set and exclusive gift boxes that would also be available. 

2. Competing and appearing on variety shows, competition shows and more. 

2023 would prove to be a busy year for Yanan with what seemed like contestant tv show promotions, the artist would show off his talents in dance and vocals, only showing to fans how much confidence he has gained throughout the years. 

Kicking it off by taking apart in [ Sweet Tasks Season 5 ], the show would look into day to day work schedules for literary and art workers as the starting point. Using three stages (meeting, observation and dialogue) to demonstrate professionalism, moral character and positive values. 

Following this Yanan would appear on [ Qing Nian Pai Qing Hui Da ] was a show consisting of 12 episodes, as shared in this article about the announcement of Yanan to join the reality competition series. The series which roughly translates to ‘Youth Group Project’ which would feature numerous stars, some being from Cube Entertainment, Huang Wen Jin (Project C) member, CHUANG 2021 Huang Kun, Sha Yi Ting and more. It featured 30 musical artists underneath the age of 30 to take part in numerous challenges dealing with different concepts and genres. 

Later, Yanan would take part in the shows [ Hit it Off ] and [ Youth π Project ]. 

[ Hit it Off ] is a show focused around the idea of actors and actresses who undergo intensive training and enhancing their acting skills while living within a shared space (often called a dorm) and shared the behind the scenes of the individual’s life. 

While the show, [ Youth π Project ] would be a program co produced and created by the popular Hunan Satellite TV and Mango TV, where it would consists of 30 contestants under 30. There was a completion of 7 co created stages of powerful music with different themes. Yanan would see an impressive amount of support from watchers for his stages, ‘I’m Not Sorry’ and the soul filled duet ‘Goodbye Deep Sea’. 

As the show and the well 11 beloved and impressive song stages would come to an end, the show [ Youth π Project ] would end up crowning Yanan as the winner of the show. Thanks to winning the show, he is rumoured to have won the chance gain even more exposure in acting gigs in dramas and things such as brand deals.
