ENHYPEN Release Their 5th Mini Album “ORANGE BLOOD” And The Music Video For The Title Track ‘Sweet Venom’

On November 17th, 2023, 4th generation boy group, ENHYPEN, released their 5th mini album “ORANGE BLOOD”, along with the music video for the title track ‘Sweet Venom’.

The album itself is best described as a continuation of their last album, “DARK BLOOD”. It continues the story of ‘Bite Me’ and draws upon the feeling of tasting a venom that is so sweet it makes them feel alive. The album consists of songs such as ‘Sweet Venom,’ ‘Mortal,’ ‘Still Monster,’ ‘Orange Flower (You Complete Me),’ ‘Sweet Venom (English Ver.),’ and ‘Sweet Venom (ft.Bella Porch)’.

The album begins with the song ‘Mortal’ which lasts about 3 minutes and 38 seconds. The boys embark on a monologue that describes their feelings of feeling mortal again and treasuring the very nature of what we call life. Some lyrics include: “Even the starlight of the universe. Close your eyes someday. All these moments are precious.” With these, the members describe their time as mortals and that the love they feel will never die even if they are gone. So, they cherish the mortal life they have been given. 

The song, ‘Sweet Venom’, is about 2 minutes and 28 seconds. The song fuses lively and intricate percussions while paying homage to many of Michael Jackson’s classics. The song explores the members’ feelings at the moment they get a taste of the sweet poison of the one they love. Some lyrics include: “Sweet-ee-eet vеnom-nom-nom. Yeah, all I need-ee-eed is your poison (Your poison). Paralyzed, paradise on my tongue. So alive, I could die, gimme some.” The song does not stop there, as it’s filled with slick moves and outstanding visuals coming from all the members, paired with their trendy vocals. ENHYPEN continue to show their fans that they will never be stopped. 

The next track is ‘Still Monster’ lasting about 3 minutes and 6 seconds. The song presents chill vibes fused with clean vocals. The song is about eventually hoping to embrace one’s insecurities through the love and acceptance of someone else. Its lyrics include, “How dare you, baby (Hey) My heart craves it. Even though I’m such a monster (Save me) What is love? To me (Hey) Teaching love. In the end, the answer is always, only you, ooh.” These lyrics express the conflicting feelings that ENHYPEN feel about themselves and how the ones that they loved helped them to accept themselves as they are. 

The next track is ‘Blind’ which runs about 3 minutes and 18 seconds. The song explores the theme of unconditional love and the willingness to go to any lengths for the person the members deeply care about, even if it means losing themselves in the process. The song comes with the lyrics, “Every time I see you like that. I shed ecstatic tears. Blinding lights (Blinding lights) Blinding lights, ooh (Blinding lights) With those painful eyes open. I’m looking at you like I’m fascinated. The more I love you I become more greedy.” The lyrics express the unyielding love for someone. Throughout the song, ENHYPEN consistently describes this moment they spend as immortal and how it intensifies. The next track is ‘Orange Flower (You Complete Me)’ lasting about 3 minutes. The song explores and carries the theme of finding love and feeling complete through a special connection with someone.
