There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Five DREAMIN from DRIPPIN TRENDS from the Philippines, Malaysia, and Spain are the next fans to answer our questions. Kath💿, Riz🦊, Kaye🐌, Iman 🐰 , and Cerise🍒are fans of DRIPPIN! Check out how they entered the fandom, the songs and content they advise to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

We are DREAMINs from different countries!
Kath💿, Riz🦊 and Kaye🐌, from the Philippines; Iman🐰 from Malaysia, and Cerise🍒 from Spain.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I officially entered the fandom on October 28, 2020 which is DRIPPIN’s debut but I had been around since “Produce X 101”.

I have liked Hwang YunSeong ever since “Produce X 101” and after that show, I was curious about his debut in the future so I waited until I saw him again with the other Woollim trainees. I instantly got my interest again with the other Woollim boys so that’s when I started stanning them as a whole group.

After “Produce X 101” ended, I have been following them through Woollim Rookies and W Project. When DRIPPIN’s debut was announced with Alex as the 7th member, I have been their fan since then.

I have been interested in DRIPPIN since “Produce X 101”, back in 2019. I got to know 6 out of 7 members there.

I am a fan of every artist in Woollim Entertainment so I got interested in them when they were introduced to the public, joining the survival show. I officially joined the fandom when they released their pre-debut song project, ‘1M1S’. –

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

Handsome, tall, different but beautiful personalities, pretty voice colors, and many more.

Even though YunSeong is mostly the reason on how I discovered DRIPPIN, it is mostly because of their music being different to other 4th gen groups. I love their style of music and I rarely stan groups so that’s how special DRIPPIN is in my heart.

Of course because of their outstanding talents and chemistry between the members. In my opinion, DRIPPIN is a complete group in which the members are talented in singing, rapping and dancing. They have a strong and stable main vocal, a main dancer who can sing and rap, and a rapper who can sing. To me, the balance in this group is good. Their songs also have never been disappointing. I might be biased but DRIPPIN has no-skip albums. They are also talented in variety shows as they are funny and witty at the same time.

I fell in love with their adorable and handsome side at first glance. Through the program I witnessed their talents and how they improved every week. They are hard working boys who deserve all the love. Alex was introduced as the last member a few months prior to debut, our other talented and hard working member, I was captivated by his bright personality and how smart he is. DRIPPIN is complete with 7 members, they are perfect in my eyes, and I hope more people get to see how I see them every day.

It was the best decision for me to get to know them since they were trainees. I get to see how they improved so much in different aspects – singing, dancing, etc. Also, they have bubbly and adorable personalities.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

MinSeo, because his eyes were so small when they were first introduced in public on “Produce X 101”.

Kim MinSeo! He looks like Golden Child’s Bae SeungMin and sometimes, I see INFINITE’s Kim SungKyu on him. He also left me an impression that he is an adorable comedian and I love how he smiles.

Ever since “Produce X 101”, YunSeong caught my attention because of his amazing dancing skills and personality. We somehow have the same personality, being super shy to strangers but when it comes to work, I admire how he always puts his best for his group and how he manages it. I see him as a great and wise leader.

The first member who caught my attention was Hwang YunSeong. He is DRIPPIN’s leader and main dancer. YunSeong is well known since “Produce X 101” as a great dancer who danced on beat and a fast learner who always led his group in dancing. He is pretty much skilled and I am always mesmerized every time I see him dance. This made me realize that he has such an awesome leadership skill. He is a great choreographer too! He has created a number of choreography and posted it on their TikTok.

No other than YunSeong. At first sight, I was attached to his pure aura and ethereal imagen. But I didn’t want that to be the main reason, so through “Produce X 101”, I was impressed by his skill as a main dancer. I got to know his past as a back dancer, but most importantly his passion and charisma on stage was always clear. I noticed he was a genius at that moment. His personality wasn’t like a strict person, he is even now a fun and adorable bear.

Who is your bias, and why?

Hyeop, he’s been my bias since they didn’t debuted yet. His voice and singing skills are immaculate. There’s something different when you hear him sing, a main vocal feeling? It’s something like he’s a naturally born good singer. Also his good stage presence!

My bias is Joo ChangUk! He’s DRIPPIN’s vocalist and is the tallest member. There are so many reasons to love ChangUk. One of the reasons, of course, is because of his talent. He is a good vocalist and a good dancer. He has covered a few songs for both singing and dancing which showcases his skills. He is also known as someone who gives his all to be the best on stage. Other than that, as told by other members, ChangUk is a warm-hearted guy as he always takes care of others in silence. Overall, he has the best personality that it is almost impossible to not fall in love with such a great idol!

Kim MinSeo! I chose him as my bias mainly because of his voice color although he didn’t get many lines. I love how soft and calming it is. Other than that, I also fell for his cute and funny personality. MinSeo is literally like your long lost little brother that you would want to protect forever.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

Their title track has always been so promising and enjoyable so far. I wish people could listen to all of their title tracks such as ‘Nostalgia’, ‘Young Blood’, ‘Free Pass’, ‘Villain’, and ‘Zero’. However, since DRIPPIN made their comeback recently with ‘The One’.

‘Nostalgia’ is the first title track of his album’s debut. It’s so meaningful to me, I love it so much even today.

‘Young Blood’ by DRIPPIN is seriously an underrated title track and I totally recommend this song because this is literally one of the best songs of 4th gen groups.

‘So Good’! Their Japanese title track SO GOOD, is so far my favorite, a bright concept from them. I find everything perfect, the energetic concept, the meaningful and cheerful lyrics, their voices, the choreography, in summary, everything is perfect. If you hear it in the early morning, it could boost your energy and power!

I love how catchy it is! It really gives you energy to do work everyday. I recommend this as the first song you should listen to as you start your day.

I want to recommend the cover ChangUk did with Hyeop. This is my favorite cover and I love how their vocals matched well with each other. My next favorite cover from ChangUk is ‘Good Person’ by NCT’s HaeChan. FYI, HaeChan is his role model and he has mentioned multiple times on how he respects and adores HaeChan.

Personally, all YunSeong short videos with the hashtag #choreo_by_yunseong. You can take a look at his creative side as a choreographer. He is the main dancer of the group, a hard working and passionate person in terms of dancing. This short video is the most known from him. Ideas taken from the drama Squid Game.

DRIPPIN did a cover of EXO’s ‘First Snow’ so I would like to recommend this cover. Please listen to it and appreciate their vocals! It is a memorable cover because at the end of the cover they gave a hint for their comeback “Villain”!

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

“Let’s watch each other and grow together ” and ” Let’s rely on each other whether we’re having hard time or when happy” from Lee Hyeop on Universe Private Message.

DRIPPIN has always shared a lot of good words that made me compile all of them under the hashtag #예쁜말만하는_우리핀 which means “Our Pin (DRIPPIN) who only says pretty things”. My favorite words are from Hyeop when he is assuring fans that if there are hard times, there will be good times too. I feel so comforted by his warm words.

What type of concept do you prefer: cute, dark, sexy, etc?

I actually like their cute concepts like ‘Free Pass’ and ‘Wish’. These are cute concepts but it’s like a fresh cute concept which I totally like because it suits them and most DREAMIN and even non-DREAMIN love it. I wish they could make more music with that kind of concept.

Fresh and happy concept is more welcomed by the general public in my humble opinion. With a positive, healing message, is what makes you listen to the song again and again. I always wished for a bright concept, that is ideal, because we surely feel warmed and fully recharged when we see them perform all happy and natural on stage.

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

I think the best souvenir with DRIPPIN is when I was able to watch them perform at a joint concert in Thailand. It was my first time watching them perform live on stage so it was memorable to me. I also was able to meet them closely as I was selected for a hi-touch session with them.

Probably it was when Alex (of DRIPPIN) read the message I sent on a Radio show. He mentioned my name, country and the story I wrote. I felt, even until now, surreal.

Can you recommend words that your bias likes to hear to new fans who don’t know yet about it?

There was a fancall where someone asked ChangUk what was the moment he felt the happiest and his answer was, when he read a private message after a schedule is over, and saw a lot of DREAMINs told him that he did well and greeted him goodnight. Hence, I think that “You did well today” will be the words that ChangUk would like to hear the most.

What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias?

I have a lot but if I have to choose it will be when I am able to celebrate my birthday with him via a fancall. It was one of the happiest days ever for me this year.

Getting to know more about him. There’s no specific moment. Every little thing I know is special and important to me. Whenever he dances, sings, laughs, I love every single one of them.

YunSeong hasn’t shown much of his beatbox skill, only during predebut. So maybe not many people know about it.

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

I would love to see YunSeong in dance competitions like “ISAC” (“Idol Star Athletics Championships”) – Dance Sports, or shows like “Hit The Stage”, because I would love to see him to get recognized by his dance skills again. Many people don’t know or may have forgotten that YunSeong is seriously a good dancer. During “Produce X 101”, he is literally labeled a “A Great Performer” by the coaches because of his great dancing skills. I really wish YunSeong can join live shows like that because it would be a great for him and the group to be recognized by the public more.

If you could spend the day with them, what would you want to do together?

With my bias, probably something simple like talking about deep topics, taking a walk around the river, eating something delicious at a random place and so on. I could be just the happiest person being with him.

YunSeong isn’t the type of person who cries easily. So probably a recent funny story can be when he cracked a hard egg in ChangUk’s head. His expression was so funny and he too was surprised.

Cuteness. Whatever YunSeong does, he is always too adorable.

Iced americano. I recently started to drink it and I am starting to like it so much.

There is a long list of idols I would like ChangUk to collab with but since ChangUk is a big fan of Highlight’s Yang YoSeob, and always recommends YoSeob’s song to DREAMINs, I would love to see ChangUk collab with him.

He seems in his own world but at the same time he is incredibly aware of his surroundings and also changes in his members mood.

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

Makes my life exciting. After a long day I have beautiful people to watch on.

I have seen DRIPPIN members from the very start and their hard work and passion to achieve being successful idols stood as an inspiration for me to pursue my career. Also, it is actually fun growing up together with DRIPPIN because they are just around my age.

JunHo is actually an influential person. Even though there are things that did not come good or planned, he kept on going and never gave up with his dream.

DRIPPIN has influenced me in a good way ever since I became their fan. I became very motivated to learn Korean again after leaving it for years in order to communicate with them and enjoy their content. Apart from that, they inspired me to work hard and do my best in everything I do!

Learning Korean again. They brought back my desire to learn the language, that’s why I don’t want to give up again. Through Private Message, I would like to interact more with them and get to know my feelings toward them, not just in English. Another thing to point out is their personality which I admire, they are absolutely hardworking boys, humble, and have polite manners. They give me so much positivism in my daily life that I could never stop being grateful how DRIPPIN entered my world and will stay for a long long time.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

Communication to the idols, when they read my comments, likes and answers messages on PM, fancall, etc.

Meeting a lot of friends who share the same interest with me! Gathering with people who also love DRIPPIN and talk about them over nice and good food is my favorite thing to do and a stress reliever to me!

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

The infamous line “DRIPPIN are NUGU”. DRIPPIN are clearly not NUGU in terms of sales, views, and popularity. They’re on the average tier section of kpop. What I fear is they’ll be stuck there and will be forever rising rookies… They became Nugu because their appearance in the K-Pop industry is weak, blaming this on their company.

DRIPPIN is literally entertaining to watch. They are very talented and their albums have a great discography. It’s sad that this group is being overlooked by this so called ‘Noise Music’ for bg’s, which their music is really FAR from that kind of genre. They are more than that and I recommend stanning DRIPPIN.
