Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Brazilian Friendz Talks About Her Favorite Group TRENDZ & Her Bias HaVit

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Nat from the Brazil is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of TRENDZ and more particularly of HaVit! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

I’m Nat (aka @havitokki @trendztracks @matchavit)
I’m from Brazil~ South America!

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom once I heard ASTRO’s JinJin was one of the main composers/producers from one of TRENDZ’s debut mini album B-side ‘Villain’. I was previously an AROHA (ASTRO fan) only, but got curious as to how that collaboration took place. It was JinJin’s first produced song outside of his group, so I was really proud (as he is also my bias) and went searching to end up discovering that TRENDZ are 7 wonderful charming individuals packed with many talents and unique personalities. I think timeline-wise, it must’ve been around November/December of 2021.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

Going to sound very cliché here, but there are so… many….
I think what made me love them at first, was the attention they gave to the fan´s comments despite having little to no SNS freedom during their first promotions with ‘TNT’. During fancalls they would let us know that they read all our comments, our replies to their tweets, searched up their names and looked at what we said about them, and so on. I think that was what lead the company to give them the freedom to write their own tweets however they want, instead of having pre-set posts and updates like they did during ‘TNT’ and ‘Villain’ promos.
Another reason that got me looking at them with a different perspective was the fact that they´re all from the “Z” generation, as clearly stated on their brand with their group name “trendZ”. It feels much more comfortable and ‘easy to relate’ to see them talking about things they like and dislike, childhood memories, jokes, films, artists, while being able to identify and/or be aware of who/what they´re talking about.
These are the most “unpopular” reasons I could think of, because they simply have the perfect recipe to make fans all around the globe fall in love with them. They have huge potential. TRENDZ have been known as “monster rookies” through articles and news, because their performances and skills don´t match the beginner level of a rookie. They’re always out-doing themselves and working harder and harder everytime, just like professionals.

 

Who caught your attention at first and why?

The first members who caught my attention were “Leon” and “YoonWoo”, both TRENDZ´s 00 liners born in 2000. And to be very honest, the reason they caught my attention first was the 00 line chemistry they had (and still do). They’d play around with each other and seemed to have a pretty fun dynamic to their relationship, with lots of teasing and laughing. So of course, I thought that was very endearing, and began paying a closer look to the duo. They’re also both very interested in fashion, which you can easily identify by the pictures they post and outfits they wear. They’re both real good models, and I look forward to seeing what they can do on future photoshoots….

 

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is HaVit!! And then again, I could be writing a whole essay listing the many reasons why I am so deeply in love with him, his mind, and his personality. HaVit is just the sweetest most genuine idol I´ve ever “met”. I say “met”, because we haven´t spoke to each other face to face. But I have talked to him a few times, and he’s always so caring and so attentive to fan´s worries and comments. His fancafe profile pictures are all drawings and paintings made by fans, he’ll change them from time to time but everytime it’s something a fan made him and that he wants to show that he appreciates it by wearing it as his profile picture. He´ll search through his name tag, and make sure to read the fan letters he receives on the fancafe, which might not seem like a lot but I feel like idols have a really busy life. So whenever they take the little time they have to themselves to pay attention to their fans, I feel like that’s something worth of admiration and praising. HaVit also does his best to read every single comment during his VLIVES, he´s the most active on SNS and I believe the answer as to why is quite clear. He cares about the fans, quite a lot. He just can´t stay off SNS for too long, he’ll miss us too much, as he once said in one of his fancafe letters. He’s always saying the fancafe letter topics are just an excuse, and that he just wanted to “come see us” because he misses us. I think HaVit has an amazing personality, even though he’s the one I’m most interested in, I’m always learning new things about him. New talents. He’s very shy, loves to eat, exercise, likes pink and cute things, playing league of legends and watching basketball, and has a husky voice that contrasts with his face, alongside with a body that likes to exercise.

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

The only title track they have so far is ‘TNT (Truth&Trust)’ from their 1st mini album “BLUE SET Chapter 1. TRACKS”, along with the three B-sides in it ‘Be My Love’, ‘Trauma’ and ‘Villain’. I think all the songs have different vibes which is why I’m basically recommending the whole album…. They’re also preparing for a comeback with their 2nd mini album “BLUE SET Chapter 2. CHOICE” which includes several new songs composed by members, and they’re all very excited about it, so make sure to check it out on June 8th release day :]

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I was basically waiting for you to ask me to!

Since those two are both from ‘Villain’ era, where they were promoting their B-side for extended debut promotions, I’ll also recommend something from their debut ‘TNT’ era. “Inkigayo” HaVit focus of ‘TNT’ performance on their 4th day of promotions.

 

A little bit of self-promo, since the full video has a focus on each member, even so, I’ll leave the link for the full video down below!! This is a collab between pinneapplestudio and TRENDZ, where they are recorded dancing to ‘TNT’ both with a moving cam, and individually. This one also shows HaVit´s duality, and potential, he wears a cute outfit while dancing fiercefully to the choreo, has the sharpest expressions and gives his all even if it’s just for a video and not an actual live performance.

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

Absolutely!

I´m a big fan of the videos they made on a collab with TongTongCulture, the prompts are really fun and it has English subtitles as well, which helps intl fans connect with the artists. TongTong made a cute broken karaoke video where you could see them having fun and being silly, but also made a video filled with facts about each member told by the members themselves!

 

 

They also have their own “variety show” with English subtitles as well, it´s called TRENDY?TRENDZ! and you can see it on their official channel with several episodes released. Strongly recommend those.

 

And now performance wise, I’ll recommend a few shorts they posted on youtube from songs I really like, they’ve really mastered the covers from songs of artists they like, which along with being super polite, is also very professional of them paying respect to their sunbaes.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

(Since everyone has their own interpretations, I’ll leave it to you to find out why these are one of my favorites, maybe they’ll be your favorites too~)

 

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

Yeah I do!! HaVit said something in one of his fancafe letters after hanging out with his sister on children’s day that touched me so deeply…
“In the past, I thought I was just wasting my time… It has now become a necessary way of healing for me” He explained as he said he felt a bit sad saying goodbye to his sister, and went for a walk while listening to music. He´s referring to just “spacing out” to deal with your own thoughts/feelings.

 

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

They influence me to, of course, be better at speaking/writing/listening Korean. While I’m busy with life, they made studying it rather fun instead of burdensome. They all bring me constant joy, specially HaVit, whenever I read through his fancafe letters something in me just warms up instantly. I’ve heard from other people that he has this shiny naturally warm presence capable of lighting up a room, despite being an introvert, and he seems to be able to project that into his letters. As he can sit and think deeply about what he wants to write. And to be very honest, Havit and his big heart and constant faith, have changed my perspective on religion and those who follow it.

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

If I’m honest, ever since I started stanning TRENDZ, I’ve met all sorts of wonderful people on Twitter. So I’d say, I should thank TRENDZ because thanks to them I now have many trusting and loving friendships that I know I’ll be able to count on for years to come. The greatest part about fangirling/stanning, is to have good people alongside you to join you :]

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

TRENDZ, as rookies, are still building up their universe lore and image, so I don’t really see many negative comments or misunderstandings. All I can say is, keep watching them, despite being rookies as I´ve mentioned before: They’re well known for being monster rookies, having strong powerful performances and skills that are surely not of a rookie’s. Please support them a lot!

 

For you, what is your bias’ best stage outfits until now? Please share a picture or fan cam.

These are my top 3! He also seemed to have enjoyed wearing them, specially the chains and the beautiful earrings~ (he’s quite the fan of cute jewelry).

 

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being Happy and Healthy?

They have expressed wanting to win ROTY (rookie of the year) award, so hopefully that’s something we can achieve together. I’d also like for them to get nice brand deals and maybe a 1st win on a music show, anything that will show them that their efforts and music are greatly appreciated!!

 

What is your first comment on a live broadcast of your favorite idol?

Well that’s going to take me down memory lane for a bit… Because I don’t quite recall it…. It must’ve been during the transmission of their first showcase on tongtongculture’s YouTube channel, and it probably had something to do with me being proud of them for finally debuting ><.

 

Is there particular information that you want to say to new fans because they mostly don’t know about it?

New fans should know TRENDZ has conquered everything they have from scratch, and that although they come from a company that has a familiar name (INTERPARK music plus), this department didn´t even exist and TRENDZ was the first group that debuted under their subsidiary label (interpark music plus). They’ve worked so so so hard and were already a group before formally being known as “TRENDZ”, which was their debut group name. They’d promote themselves during trainee days as “INTER BOYS” (Under interpark) and even before that 6 out of 7 TRENDZ´s members (HaVit, Leon, HanKook, Ra.L, Eunil, YeChan) were training to debut with their pre-debut name as “Daily H Boys” under NH Media, and unfortunately they didn’t follow through with their debut at the time. It´s important to note that 3 out of the 7 TRENDZ members (HaVit, HanKook, Leon) were trainees at NH Media by the time they joined and participated in JTBC´s idol survival show “MIXNINE”, all 3 of them were eliminated at some point in the show, but later on would attempt to debut with “Daily H Boys” members, which also wouldn´t succeed as we´ve mentioned before. ChoongHyun (YoonWoo) was the last member to join “INTER BOYS”, and with only 3 weeks of self adjustment he fit right in on the group´s covers and positionings. I really think TRENDZ members all had tough times throughout their journey to debut, so I really hope new fans will always value and point it out, I hope that they´re not so much attached to how funny or pretty they are, but also to how hard they´ve worked to get to where they are. It takes a lot of strength to fail, and try again.

 

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

Aren’t fan meetings and fan signs almost the same? Well, I do appreciate the energy the artists receive during concerts, that’s for sure. But I’m more of an introvert, so I’d prefer less noisy events with fewer people around. So I guess that would be, fansign?

 

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

Chicken. Last time I’ve seen they eating chicken they’d look so happy, so I´d like to see those expressions of happiness again~ Well, most likely HaVit, he’s really passionate about food.

 

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

I’d probably have him plan out a restaurant tour of his favorite places, so we could go there together!! He likes planning things and is always leaving interesting reviews on fancafe, so I think it’d be a fun thing to plan and do! I’m also a big fan of, eating…? I think? And I love to try new things. We’re both slow eaters too, so we could both take our time to eat and chat peacefully (unlike the situations that occur to me in real life…). Despite already knowing that he’ll mostly take me to places that have cheese, matcha, donuts, and ice cream… Which are the things he’s always talking about with much joy~

 

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

Among TRENDZ members, I really like the wolf + rabbit (YoonWoo + HaVit) unit since I really love contrasting elements.
HaVit being the first to have joined the company, YoonWoo the last.
YoonWoo appearing tough with fierce expressions and a strong voice, but is soft on the inside and overall a very cute individual. Meanwhile HaVit appears soft on the outside with lovely expressions but is quite fierce on the inside, I believe he´s one of the strongest people I know, while also adding to the contrast with his husky voice and muscular body due to liking to exercise (his words not mine).

What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them?

I can’t really think of something that I haven’t mentioned, but there’s this really cute thing about how this year it’s the first year they get to celebrate their birthday as official TRENDZ members after debuting. So they also have Birthday Cafe supports from fans. I think it’s very endearing how the members so far (HanKook and HaVit) have attended the cafes themselves, filmed a behind the scenes while attending it and were just marvelled by the preparations and hard work from their fans. They also left autographs on the pictures displayed that they thought were the ones they liked the most~

 

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

I’m not going to lie, I believe every single time HaVit and I spoke to each other, we spent half of the video call time laughing and giggling. Either because we were shy, or we just thought that the fact that the other person was shy was funny and/or cute. I’m not much of a crier, however HaVit is, and even says he enjoys watching emotional touching movies and crying over them, he says it´s… therapeutic? Sort of. We held our tears as best as we could, so there were 2 instances where I was like “No no don´t cry, don´t cry! I will cry too!!” and then it was his turn to threaten to cry too if I cried, which weirdly enough seemed to have stopped the both of us from sobbing to each other´s faces…. XD

 

What about your bias do you relate to the most?

We pretty much like the same things to be honest… League of legends, NBA, old school games and cartoons, pink, cute things and fashion, food (in special, cheese, matcha, ice cream, bread based sweets like donuts etc) baby apeach/apeach (kakao character), singing, playing the piano, and having the cute/fierce contrast. I too, own a “soft” looking face, but a husky voice, or so I have been told. We even have the same family motto, about when it comes to food you shouldn´t care about how much you´re spending >U< I think it´s easier to “connect” to someone if we understand each other´s struggles and likings, so I’m glad we’re very similar.

 

What do you think is the most underrated song by your favourite idol group?

Since they only have a few songs released, most of us will pay attention to all of them equally. But I’d say ‘Trauma’ has to be the least talked among Friendz, ‘Villain’ + ‘TNT’ both had promotional periods while ‘Be My Love’ is the only “soft/cute” B-side from “BLUE SET: TRACKS” album… So yeah, I´d say ‘Trauma’ is the least popular one among fans.

 

What is one thing that you think is unique about your bias/bias group?

Their professionalism and dedication. And how despite being on a field where your image might be the most important thing, they still remain true to themselves and their personalities. Which I personally think it’s something to admire on the K-pop 4th gen group industry.

 

If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be?

“The once lonely and hidden Moon, doesn´t seem to be so lonely anymore. It has found it´s Sun, it´s driving force. And now, the Moon is also able to shine beautifully.”
“Thank you, for being my Happiness.”

 

What is your 2022 prediction for your favourite idol?

Hopefully, their first win on a music show >:]

 

Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do? (Camping, Travelling, Survival in Island, Military, Food Program)

They’ve done camping on their own variety show “TRENDY?TRENDZ!”, and are too young to be thinking about the military just yet, so I guess a food and survival one would be nice? As I have mentioned previously, nothing makes me happier than seeing my 7 boys fill their cheeks with food while smiling so peacefully.
