Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Filipino ENGENE Talks About Her Favorite Group ENHYPEN & Her Biases Sunoo, Jay, & JungWon

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.
So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Ruey from the Philippines is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of ENHYPEN and more particularly of Sunoo, Jake, and JungWon! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi, I’m an ENGENE. I’m currently using ‘Ruey’ as my alias in some social media platforms that involves K-Pop. I’m 16 years old and a high school student, born and raised in Bulacan, Philippines.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I started having interest in K-Pop 3 years ago. I first stanned EXO because of my classmate, and until now, I keep on supporting K-Pop groups. My current favorite is ENHYPEN.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I like ENHYPEN because of their talent, attitudes and humor. Also, their ages are not that far from mine.

 

Who caught your attention at first and why?

SungHoon caught my attention first because of his visuals and I also saw some of his videos when he is younger.

 

Who is your bias, and why?

My biases are SunJayWon(Sunoo, Jay, JungWon). I just like this trio and I’m very happy when I see them together.

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I recommend ‘Just A Little Bit’ by ENHYPEN.

 

Can you recommend a fancam, VLive, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I recommend “EN-O’CLOCK”…

 

… and “EN-loG”.

 

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

I recommend watching the show “I-LAND”.

 

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

“Just a little bit, just a little bit…” – ‘Just A Little Bit’.

 

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

“Our goal is not to go fast, but to finish.” – Yang JungWon.

 

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

Jake’s Australian accent, dancing and singing.

 

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

I am able to learn or to understand Korean and watching them how they grow.

 

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being Happy and Healthy?

I wish them to be really successful and will not be affected by any rumors and hate.

 

What is your first comment on a live broadcast of your favorite idol?

My jaywon heart 💜.

 

Is there particular information that you want to say to new fans because they mostly don’t know about it?

I feel new fans don’t know that Jay’s childhood is unlike the other members childhood, he doesn’t have siblings and he didn’t experience to play with other children, and it’s kinda sad.

 

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

Fan meeting.

 

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

I’ll just bring them to my mom because my mom is a best when cooking.

 

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

I would like to go somewhere peaceful and relaxing to clear their minds.

 

Do you have a dream subunit/unit? (It can be with a fellow member or another K-Pop idol).

HeeHoon (HeeSeung & SungHoon).

Aces, talented, funny, visuals, best.

 

What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them?

Most ENGENES are curious about HeeSeung’s brother.

 

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

I nearly cried when Jay and Sunoo were talking about their childhood memories. Jay said that when he came back from school, mostly he went to his taekwondo class or Starbucks, which is different from Sunoo’s that played with his sister and other children.

 

What about your bias do you relate to the most?

JungWon: Sometimes I’m the leader in our class. Sunoo: I want the feeling of being bright and happy.

 

What do you think is the most underrated song by your favourite idol group/soloist?

‘Not for sale’ , ‘Blockbuster’, ‘Just a little bit’.

 

What is one thing that you think is unique about your bias/bias group?

Sunoo can slay both being handsome and pretty, Jay set ENGENES standards, JungWon pulled off being a leader despite of being in the maknae line.

 

If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be?

~In the middle of nowhere, while everyone are scared, and many are dying, I met you.
~you bring brightness to my life, and I’ll keep that in my heart.

 

What is your 2022 prediction for your favourite idol?

Concert.

 

Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do?

“Running man”, Knowing Bros”, Jessi interview.

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

Staffs are always there, and they seem uncomfortable sometimes. Some fans face shame HeeSeung and some antis say that ENHYPEN should be in Sewol that day. That’s absurd.

Always remember that ENHYPEN and ENGENES are always connected.
