Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Mexican ELF Talks About Her Favorite Group SUPER JUNIOR

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Luce from Mexico is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of SUPER JUNIOR! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

 

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello! My name is Luce I am from Mexico City, Mexico.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I became a fan of SUPER JUNIOR because I was a fan of the dramas starring SiWon. In early 2015 a co-worker told me that this boy was an idol.

 

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I love SUPER JUNIOR because since the moment I know their music, they have accompanied me in every happy and sad moments of my life. Becoming active in the fandom made SUPER JUNIOR feel closer to me, with their fanmeeting, their birthday parties and other activities that in group or individual from the boys prepare for ELF.

 

Who is your bias, and why?

When I entered the fandom my bias was SiWon. Because he is a good actor, singer, and songwriter but what I fell in love with him was his activities with UNICEF and the immense love he has for god as well as his family. His example shaped my life and made me want to be a better person every day.
Currently I consider myself OT15, I love 15, and I can’t choose just one because they are very special.

 

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

It is very difficult to choose just one title song but it would be ‘Rokkugo’, from the subunit SUPER JUNIOR-T. As for B-side, it would be ‘Love Disease’.

 

 

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

I recommend SiWon’s cover of “Lost Stars” which he performed on the “SS6”.

 

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

My favorite song is ‘It’s You’ by SUPER JUNIOR and ‘1+1=love’ by SUPER JUNIOR-D&E.

 

 

 

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

KyuHyun says that ELF is the face of SUPER JUNIOR and SUPER JUNIOR the face of ELF. For me this is so and I behave the best I can because I would not like to give members a bad image by leaving the fandom in bad shape.

 

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

As I said before, SiWon is special in my life. It is an example of faith; he moved me to go back to godhead. LeeTeuk is an example of strength and consistency that motivates me not to give up. HeeChul is brave: he teaches me to love myself, to be original. All the boys by their example make me grow as a human being.

 

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

Unfortunately, SUPER JUNIOR is very attacked by prejudices like age, and they receive a lot of malicious comments. But that does not stop them to go on.

 

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

At each Super Show (as their concerts are called), SUPER JUNIOR prepares a special performance for ELF. If I had to choose one it would be the dance cover of ‘Pocker Face’ and ‘Telephone’ by HeeChul and the ‘Single Ladies’ by ShinDong, DongHae, and EunHyuk, which was performed on SS3.

 

Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don’t know yet about it?

More than words I would recommend the song ‘Superman’, which explains the feeling of SUPER JUNIOR towards some events of his artistic career.

 

Can you describe your bias in only one word?

To me, they are joy and madness.

 

Can you share a fun episode that only fans from your fandom know to readers?

In 2014 at the Beijing SS6 on the song ‘Evanesce’ HeeChul forgot to climb the revolving stage and the members laughed at him. And a few months later in 2015 at SS6 Bangkok on the same song most members forgot to climb to the turntable. It was a funny moment. Super Junior has a very unreverent humor and fans too.

 

 

 

If you are collecting goods, what is your most precious treasure?

My most precious treasure is the SUPER JUNIOR D&E’s “Danger” album in the grey version because it took a lot of work to get it.

 

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

I think I would prepare them pozole and quesadillas because they are representative dishes of my country but DongHae in particular would prepare tacos with guacamole because we know his taste for eating avocado and his love of tacos.

 

What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias?

The premiere of the musical “Frankenstein” featured KyuHyun because it brought songs where he showed a lot of vocal ability.

 

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

My favorite subunit is SUPER JUNIOR D&E because their records are unique because they explore different genres, which gives us musical jewels, especially Japanese records which are a work of art. Specifically the limited edition album ‘Style’ is a beauty.

 

Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why.

Of the programs where boys participate I like 3:
– “Knowing Brothers” which HeeChul participates in because it is a very fun program.
– “D&E show” which is a now radio show where we see DongHae and EunHyuk making challenges and interviewing various invited idols.
– “New festa” where KyuHyun participates brings us very good presentations.

 

What is your favourite way of communicating with your bias?

I use the bubble service because it gives us the feeling of closeness and communication with the guys especially the HeeChul and SungMin are very special.

 

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

I feel that the boys are very transparent and coherent in their actions.

 

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Yes I promote my love for super junior but I respect that not all people like the same as me.

 

 

Luce’s message to SUPER JUNIOR:

SUPER JUNIOR is a pride to me because after almost 17 years of uninterrupted career they are still a reference in the K-Pop industry. They are multifaceted and for me they are superman. The last man standing.
