BABYMONSTER is a South Korean girl group formed and managed by YG Entertainment. The group consists of seven members: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, AhYeon, HaRam, Rora, and Chiquita. They debuted on November 27, 2023, with the single ‘Batter Up’.
At first YG had announced that BABYMONSTER wouldn’t have 7 members and they would all go through a reality show called “Last Evaluation,” which was available on YouTube with 8 episodes. In that show, it was supposed that some members would get eliminated until the group had the most trained and most successful members for the group.
Although through the reality show, BABYMONSTER was supposed to debut with all the 7 members, only the 6 members debuted without AhYeon because of health issues. Rumours har spread that AhYeon wouldn’t debut because she wasn’t active anymore on social media which led to fans speculating that she won’t debut. YG Entertainment stated that AhYeon would take a break and that she would return back to the group until her health had improved. Unfortunately AhYeon missed the song ‘Batter Up’ and missed the activity that the members are doing right now.
BABYMONSTER first released their (pre-debut) song called ‘Dream’, which reached over 55 million views on YouTube and their single debut song called ‘Batter Up’ which impressively reached over 140 million views in just one month.
Fans had different opinions about the song with some people having a negative opinion on the song saying that ‘Batter Up’ really looks like a song that BLACKPINK or 2NE1 had rejected before, while some others say that ‘Batter Up’ is very fun song to listen to and it really entertained many fans.
BABYMONSTER received much love for their debut and they have a large following on all social media platforms with 4 million subscribers on YouTube, with 4.1 million followers on Instagram, with 4.6 million followers on TikTok, with 511k followers on Facebook and 4.5 million listeners on Spotify.
The members are making videos and shorts on YouTube to entertain their fans.
